Lowe would have cost £2 or 3million to buy. There is no way we could have bought him, nor matched what Hibs have offered him for a loan deal.
That’s the decision WW have ultimately made. But everything points to him being firmly in their thinking.
Which 16 year old was that, @Malone ?
You’d certainly have thought so but surely Luton wouldn’t let a player go on loan to such bitter rivals?!
Who mentioned Woodrow.
At the same time as making this comment he also said they were not prepared to pay over the odds, not that we had been “blown out of the water” because we couldn’t afford it.
It therefore works both ways . If a £1m player is being touted to us at an inflated £1.3m they know our ceiling.
Finished as joint top scorer with 4 goals for the worst team in championship history. Doesn’t sound that impressive
Still can’t work out how we went from needing 1 or 2 signings five weeks ago…
We’ve since signed Parker, Thomas, Woodrow and Cook. Which takes out signings needed figure to -2 or -3. To this…
And now we need three players? I think my long shopping list from five weeks ago was a lot closer to the mark than 1 or 2 signings.
- Signed one striker

- Left winger

- Cover for right back

- One centre back

Still missing -
- Cover for Harvie
- Number 9
- 1 centre back
I was surprised at how short Steve Cook looked last night and suspect that that’s why Taylor was played alongside him. A Cook / Casey pairing at the back would be the shortest centre back pairing in the league. So we’ve got 1 short and 1 tall for each side of centre back, unfortunately the tall one to pair with Cook is a bit rubbish. We need one more centre back.
Tezgel looked remarkably off the pace when he came on yesterday, and didn’t look at all like a number nine. We need someone physical and capable of playing with their back to goal, not sure that’s him. Ideal world though, I agree that there’s just not enough strength in depth up front. Three more up there would be good. Quitirna was dreadful when he came on last night.
Harvie ran out of steam massively towards the end of last season, even more so than Fred. We can’t expect him to play every minute of every game.
I don’t get your point mate. He never said we only needed to make 1-2 signings. You made that bit up.
Oh! You’re right! I was reading the first sentence and the second as being connected, but yeah, the second one is just a couple of signings wanted for a birthday surprise. Apologies @Midlander . Though “not much transfer business to do” is still wildly off the mark.
I have consistently said what we’ve needed all summer. At the start of July we didn’t need much - four players. We’ve signed one.
Having now done due diligence on Jerry Yates, I don’t think he sounds like the kind of player we’d be considering.
Ironically, his best season seems to have been with Blackpool where he was relatively prolific.
Callum Stones.
Did he start? Take it you mean Cameron .
Oddly I even googled him to check what feels like madness…signing a tonne of expensive players and still starting a 16 year old up front.
But yes…he did. Cameron it is!
I let myself off as he’s so young and barely been involved so don’t have his name indented yet!
I’ve always known him as Cam Stones.
Sounds too close to a medical condition to me.
“Just off to sort out some cam stones”
Cam Humphreys never struck me as sounding like a medical condition. How about you?
Malone est malade sounds medical.
Au revoir.
There’s many stones related conditions though, not sure of any humphreys.
Not heard of Humphreys discombobulated sternum?
Alf VD sane. (Goodbye)
