I know we are stacked in midfield however chartlton released Luke Berry…is he the kind of midfielder that Duff would like for experience and mentality ?

We will need players for No 10 role. He may fit the bill. We tried to sign him two years ago.

In a cruel twist of fate the manager called up Tyreeq the following day to ask him to come to training.
“Gaffer, I thought I was released”
“Nah you’re bakinson”

Looks like Woodrow is still under contract at luton for next season …its confirmed by Luton…Brammel released by them…would be excellent pick up by us

Not on here they weren’t.

He might have been reading Wind in the Willows at the time!

Have we signed anyone yet ?

Have we “retained” anyone yet ?

I am so bored !!!

Last year there were over 1,000 posts on this thread before we announced a signing.

Strap in.

It would be a waste of money. We have Harvie and Allen as back up. Two great left backs at this level. Bramall a great player but not worth it.

Nigel Lonwijk would be a good acquisition this summer.

Check Ceefax…

Did Luton not trigger his purchase? I thought they had a loan to buy option if he met some targets?

Sign him up!

Late to the party, sorry.

On Bakinson, he was garbage and has probably found his level now in league 2 but even then Orient no longer want him.

Westergaards sole MotM performance was Orient away in pizza trophy which was again about his level too in my opinion.

If Fred wants to leave so be it, we will never begin to get a ‘culture’ back if you have players around the place who don’t want to be here.

At Fred’s age he’s probably just holding out for more cash, I hope he stays.

I expect Duff will want Woodrow, he’s a smart player playing between midfield and attack and could be highly effective next season if Duff can build the team how he wants to.

I’ll drive Norris to his next club myself.

Van Sas is pony, accept it.

We do have some very talented youngsters coming through and I expect a few of them to be around the first team squad regularly.

It’s weird. I’ve spoken to a professional player that was over flowing with praise for Bakinson. He has played and trained with him and said how good he is and that he would be a good signing (at the time of announcement).

However I seem to think he’s had one years at Charlton, us and now Orient and hasn’t ever seemingly lived up to the hype that player put upon him.

Maybe he was just good mates with him and bigging his friend up or just a bad judge of character, whicmay also be true based the the player I spoke with… given some headlines he has made. But I always saw him as average whenever I saw him play. He played like he was one of the best players in the world and able to give himself all the time he needed on the ball. But he wasn’t and he didn’t.

Regarding the retain/release list - I’m wondering if it hasn’t been released yet because it’s still being finalised.

I.e. there might be one or two players (I’m thinking Fred and vids in Particular) that would be on it if they don’t want a new contract, but wouldn’t be if they do.

Duff has said the discussions with Fred are still open, even if the first offer was rejected, so any release of a retain list now may not be accurate depending on on going conversations.

(that’s a long winded way of saying “I hope Fred is going to sign so won’t be on the release list)

I know someone said “just give Fred what he wants” in order to get a signature. That’s not going to be easy if demand number one is “championship football” over a boat load of cash.

Good post except the Woodrow stuff. I don’t think Duff especially wants him - certainly not for a fee.
