I saw both CBM and Morley post gane pictures from the match, without comment on the game.
I haven’t looked at Freds insta, but its filled of goals where he is m tagged similar to the Vidi post, so I would strongly expect similar if he had scored the goal instead.
If any fan is that annoyed that Vidigal has a club post on his social media, thats fine, personally it doesn’t remotely bother me.
But, ive said this before, Vidigal may have moments, but hes the sort of player managers need to manage, especially going up the leagues. Old school managers, Sgt major types, don’t do it. Same in many managerial posts not just football.
Wouldn’t it just. A Londoner with Scottish heritage, he spent a couple of years in his youth with QPR. Clearly a big strong lad scoring goals for fun and, who knows, he might welcome an opportunity to return to the London area, joining a group full of Scottish and Irish players, including one or two with current or recent international experience themselves.
I agree, the lad has shown that he is keen to succeed and I think he should be given a chance in these last few games to prove if he is up to it or not.
Duff clearly does not believe he’s good enough to play in League One, he’s often not even made the bench and being asked to play with the youth team tells it’s own story.
However, we have three games to go, have no chance of getting in the Playoffs and I feel we need to give him starts and a good 70-80 mins each game.
If he doesn’t perform or look like he can perform then I suspect he will go over the summer back to Switzerland and the Challenge League for a fraction of the 800k-1M Euros we supposedly spent on him.
With the huge loss we will of made on our two biggest ever transfers you have to question the method and people making these decisions.
If Duff and the people above him believe that, and a reasonable offer comes in then yeah, maybe. There is a difference between not being good enough and having better options though, which has probably played a part.
But if anyone truly believes we should be paying off and getting rid of young striker - after his first season in English football, which he missed 2-3 months through injury - they probably need to give their head a wobble.
It depends, doesn’t it? If he’s got no chance of making the first team next year and it’s cheaper to pay him off than pay his wages then it makes sense.
Patience was mentioned in the signing announcement so I think it’s unlikely we just cut our losses so soon. I would expect that scenario is more likely to lead to him being loaned out.
If asking for patience it would indicate someone needs to be developed. If, he has been working hard and learning, id hope hes had a year of developing.
Same with Van Sas, when it was mentioned about his potential, which again indicates a player to improve and reach his potential.
I have higher hopes for MvS but would like to see how both improve.
If we’re looking at potential new strikers and prepared to throw money at the problem, we’ll get to see Ashley Fletcher up close and personal this weekend? Didn’t exactly thrive in the south but bring him back to the land of milk and honey.
Not wishing to push an agenda (recognising both that he has had limited opportunities - but then not really taken advantage of those he had) but I find it mildly ironic/amusing that in a season where we must have close to our record number of different goal scorers in the league that our no.1 striker at the start of the season (from memory in the top 10 or so of betting list for top League 1 scorers for the season) isn’t one of them.
