I remember the brass jugs and beakers. Occasionally it would be filled with strawberry milkshake. But it was that watery, I’m pretty sure a vegan wouldn’t have compromised their values, supping that drink.
I used to hate those beakers.
I loved the Manchester Tart for afters. The only good thing about Hatters Lane.
Brass Beakers is a decent band name. Had forgotten all about them. Maybe a future Indiana Jones might be excited to find some up at Booker tip after the apocalypse.
I have never eaten liver since being provided with a plate of it at Terriers Middle. Grim.
I like good quality liver (especially with onion gravy) but mrs micra doesn’t so I don’t buy it.
My mother apparently had to eat raw liver during the war as treatment for the leukaemia from which she was suffering and which led to her very early death when I was four years old.
I was taken from my home in Maidstone to my maternal grandmother’s home in Bexleyheath where, under special dispensation, I was allowed to attend primary school a year early.
Manchester Tart was fantastic at School, I have always preferred a cheap runny jam, to a lumpy fruit filled preserve.
My favourite pudding was the lemon shortbread. Two wedges of shortbread with a runny lemon jam between, accompanied with a thin lemon custard.
John Hampden?
What’s your views on Gypsy Tart?
They travel well.
Yep. Although I now believe they have a cartoon swan on the tie![]()
Pretty foul, i had a slice from a bakery in Gillingham many years ago, disliked the runny consistency, and thought it was rather sweet and sickly.
Banbury Cake v Eccles cakes ???
Both delightful, the finest Eccles cake i ever tasted was from the Tea Bar at Canal St Runcorn.
Absolutely sublime, it was the same day Sutton knocked FA Cup holders Coventry out of the FA Cup at Gander Green Lane.
Blimey, I saw 30 new posts in the summer transfer thread and excitedly thought there must be some punning going on, but sadly it’s a pun dessert in here.
I declair of this forum sometimes
Quality has really crumbled.
Eccles much better than Banbury
Difficult to digestive at times
The contributions on this thread are seriously wafer-thin
it’s difficult when so many posters are waging petty vienettas against one another
