This is a slightly worrying comment from PASOTI

He’s signed for Wycombe.

“Conor was amongst the best shot stoppers in the division last season, and his commanding 6’6” frame allows him to dominate his area. Grinning face with smiling eyes

Conor Hazard to join on July 1st

Keeper arrives from Plymouth Argyle.

Eff me. If anybody wants to know what a data led with no scouting recruitment method looks like…

The enigma of Conor Hazard is that he would probably fair better playing for a struggling team in the Championship as their base set-up would most likely be configured around a low block - that’s where his best performances regularly came from. When a more pro-active approach is required Conor struggles with space between him and the back line.

Michael Duff’s style is generally high press, direct and squeeze the opposition into their defensive third. I do not feel this is a good a match.

To be clear all of the above is from the PASOTI comment. It is not me that has said that I don’t feel it is a good match. I will at least do him the courtesy of watching him play for us before I draw any conclusions

He’s only got to be better than Norris to be an improvement, it’s a pretty low bar. I’m sure he’ll be a lot better than that. Welcome to the home of football Conor.

I have no idea whether Conor Hazard is a good signing or not.

On the one hand he arrives with decent experience including at a higher level. On the other hand feedback from Plymouth isn’t exactly high. Stockwell suggests his ability to command the area is one of his attributes, not something shared by Plymouth fans. Also one of the main reasons Norris didn’t work last season was his poor distribution particularly with shorter passes. Hazard has a few black marks against him when it comes to distribution if you read the reviews.

I hope Hazard proves to be a wonderful signing and Stockwell knows what he’s talking about - but it is a signing that comes with a few doubts.

Getting the keeper in was the essential immediate signing.

I would have thought we now have a first choice back 7 (Hazard; Grimmer, Casey, Hagelskjaer, Harvie; Morley, Boyd-Munce) combined with 5 of the 7 second choices for the positions (Taylor, Skura, Allen; Henderson, Scowen). A real opportunity to sort out the defensive side of our game (a weakness at times last season) from the start of pre-season.

The feedback from Plymouth fans isn’t great.

Stockwell has a lot to prove after some of his signings last summer, if they don’t work out this summer he might be the next one jettisoned.

But obviously not too much smiling.

Just has to look bothered or well, even LOOK behind him when he races out of goal, misses the ball and their man has a nice tap in. Whilst some poor defender laundering their breeks trying to do the impossible and save the moment.

Still thinking back to Duff at that fanforum saying “he’s always been like that” when a fan was saying he doesn’t look bothered, clap, smile or do any level of badge kissing.

I think the main issue was our defensive errors and there were so many this season !! That kind of gave Norris a bit of a get out clause, although there were many occasions where he could have at least made an effort.

Hopefully Conor will have more of an association with the fans as Norris seemed to do all he could to alienate himself from us !

Can’t say I know anything about the fella. But excited. The guy looks genuinely happy and another member of our ‘island of Ireland’ contingent. :ireland::united_kingdom::chair::blue_heart:

Probably got a healthy contract.

So what will happen now to our existing keepers especially Norris and van Sas? I think Moore will remain as our third choice keeper, as that looks an arrangement that suits him and the club.

The feedback on Pasoti is a lot more balanced than the Twitter crew. Seems like there are many who hold the view that he got unfairly criticised.

I can see why they chose to announce him wearing the 3rd keeper kit rather than the change kit

On a serious note, welcome Conor! Do good jumping, kicking, catching and saving.

don’t be silly, the priority for a Wycombe Wanderers number 1 is smiling, waving and clapping the fans

Someone pointed out an interesting thing to some yesterday. The home and away keeper kits were modelled by our 3rd keeper. I can see why they wouldn’t use Norris as he was out of contract but I’m not entirely sure why Van Sas wasn’t used as well.

Unless he is away. On holiday of course.

I can imagine them both leaving and we start the season with Hazard, Moore and a loanee.
