Wikipedia is never correct when it comes to appearance stats. It requires someone to update it.
I personally have reviewed various stats sites including Soccerbase which confirms 45 league appearances in the season just gone.

So I know why Wikipedia only shows 12 appearances last season for Matt Macey. It was last updated in December 2025 with data from Soccerbase.
Transfermarket has him at 45 appearances for last year and similar numbers for the previous season.
Clearly not a given he’s signed as no. 2 to Hazard.
I think it is quite clear that Hazard has been signed as No 1 and Macey as No 2. However Macey is as good as a No 2 as id expect and capable of putting pressure on Hazard.
Call me old-fashioned. The primary and indeed most important function of a goalkeeper is to command his box and stop shots. In other words. He keeps goal. Having done that basic function as far as I’m concerned he can whack the ball 80 yards down the pitch in fact I’d rather they did that that the mess about with it as we have found to our cost. Back to basics I like it.
At the fans Forum in April Duff expressed respect for GA. I look forward to our next signing being an extremely large but not very Mobile centre forward who hold up the ball

Agree with those above that Wikipedia is totally wrong. Macey made 46 appearances for Col U last season according to the Col U website.
No, football is a results business. The bean counters will always take precedence.
Entertainment is secondary.

Not sure I understand why a 31yo would give up playing every week for a lg2 team to be no2 and excepting injury play a handful of cup games for a Lg1 team.
Unless of course the answer is money.
But surely it would have to be quite a lot of additional money to make it worthwhile.
