I believe there are some posters who , even if Dodds starts winning games with highly attractive football with the support of Rice , will never come to terms that club is in a brand new era. They will never give praise because they are stuck in the past and wallowing in their minds in ‘ the good old days ‘. How long ago did Bloomfield leave, January I think, but still countless comments about how great he was . Yes as player he was but as a manager , he was not the Messiah but a young manager learning his trade. Let’s not forget , he got relegated with team who were playing in the Premiership the year before. I’m sure in time he will become a good manager. Surely it’s time to look forward and not back and support all the individuals at the club. I don’t believe Rice is stupid and if Dodds doesn’t get results , he will be sacked. You don’t spend a fortune ( in our terms) to be at the wrong end of the table.

Does your proposed ban on commending past greats extend to Martin O’Neill too, or just managers that fans presently call the c word from the stands?
Trust me - everyone knows we are in a brand new era! For many of us, that is the thing which is so off-putting.

Clearly I don’t support or want anything to do with the mindless chant by a few moronic supporters. But unfortunately you are never going to stop it. Every fan base has its idiots. Unfortunately we as fans are never going to change what’s happening at our club. But surely being in a depressed and negative mindset all the time is bloody soul destroying.

It’s not always possible to simply lift oneself out of depression on a topic. I’d love to be enjoying my Wycombe experience right now, but it’s all a bit of a struggle.

I really hope so.
Whilst I find Rice blandly corporate, I recognise that he & the leadership have done some great stuff, some good stuff, some ok stuff & some poor stuff; as another poster said this is always the way (with all of us).
Regarding MD & the squad, I have seen slow but steady improvements & clear indications of how he is asking them to play over the last 3 games that gives me confidence that it will come good & we will start getting points on the board.

The question for me is not whether the conduct of DR has been detrimental to the culture of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club (it clearly has) but whether that conduct is necessary to achieve the aims of ML.
If it is, I sort of get that he is probably a necessary evil (for want of a better word) to have in place.
However, I can’t get away from the feeling that so much of his actions and behaviour from August to January was completely unnecessary in relation to ‘the Project’.
So, given that I believe that a lot of values that this club used to have (not least basic decency) could be incorporated into the brave new world of MLs ownership I for one would celebrate DRs departure.
And please don’t assume this means I am anti-our new owners. I’m not. The things they have been doing (admittedly through DR) around the academy and training ground and now Adams Park are very much to be applauded. I just think a nicer human being than DR could have done that in a much better way.
(And for those who question my lack of respect for DR should cast their minds back to the interviews where time after time he refused to mention MB by name. Now THAT was disrespectful).

The fundamental difference is you believe the ownership group do have the best intentions and Wycombe Wanderers Football Club is the priority. I do not. I think most are yet to be convinced.

This nails it. We all make mistakes. How we comport ourselves in our daily lives is not a mistake, it is the outward display of our inner self.
I don’t know Dan Rice personally and he may be lovely to his family and friends. The handling of MB’s departure missed lovely by a country mile. It may have been the right decision, I think not but time will tell. It did not appear to be done in the right way. Maybe it’s the modern way?

The departure of MB was handled badly by the club as a whole but how much that is down to DR we ‘may never know.’The appointment of Mike was slapdash…but if he wins the League everything will be forgotten and everyone will be happy. That’s football fans.
And then people will call other people hypocrites.

The biggest problem for Doddsy is he really can’t win.
Even if he took us up, there would be little comments about how we should be highly competitive with the money spent and qualms about style!
One of the most worrying thing with football fans is how quickly they get used to a new status.
We saw it when we got up to the championship, suddenly people acted like that was our rightful level and anything bar an immediate return was a disaster.
We’re seeing it now with fees. Best estimate is that we’ve spent about £3m since January.
£3m! At Wycombe Wanderers in league 1. But people still talk about how we need x, y and z!

I feel like half the people on here sometimes forget how real life works. It’s as if it always has to be some kind of perpetual state.
We were spoiled for a long time in our little bubble, picking up crumbs off the floor with managers who knew how to turn those crumbs into bigger cookies. We loved it when we punched above our weight — the tiny fish in a huge ocean who occasionally ate a big shark for dinner. Those managers had carte blanche to run the club exactly how they liked.
Fast forward to today: the rich corporate world Wycombe now lives in. A world where spending £12,500 on a coffee machine or £40,000 on an anti-gravity treadmill is nothing at all.
In this world, employees don’t really matter. A “manager” is just a coach sitting lower down the org chart. Reorganisation is constant. Structures replace relationships. People move in and out all the time.
A lot of people don’t like this world. They don’t like being part of it. And sometimes, they just don’t fit.
The corporate world doesn’t love you back. That’s why Bloomfield’s comment about feeling “loved straight away” at Luton was so telling. Dodds will be gone if he doesn’t start winning. He won’t be given the time Ainsworth or Bloomfield had.
I’m not trying to preach, but this is the reality. This is what Wycombe is now.
The problem with this thread is that it’s going after the wrong man. If you don’t like what Wycombe has become, rename it: “The Lomtadze Out” thread.

You are right in much of this and we’re right in thinking we’re a special club at Wycombe.
But even outside of this “corporate” era, we’ve sacked managers after a fairly short period. Smith and Smillie the most notable ones.
The skill is understanding when to take the plunge and realise it’s not going to get better. Thankfully we judged it right with Ainsworth and Bloomfield despite some poor periods
How will it pan out with Doddsy? Literally have no idea. It could all properly align beautifully, or it could be another 3months and we’re still having 73% possession and 700 passes between centre backs and barely troubling the opposition keeper.

Not everything has to be like that. And I suspect a lot of the reason why some people chose to support Wycombe rather than a Premier League club is because we weren’t like that.
Would you be more proud of supporting a club where the staff are treated well and feel wanted, or a club that treats them like commodities?
It’s not even good business practice - treating people like robots isn’t how you end up with a happy, productive workforce. I’m also pretty sure Dan Rice would reject your characterisation of the culture of the club under his leadership.
