I was fully sober at the Wimbledon game and had the perfect viewing angle for what happened.
- Ball went out of play for a Wimbledon throw
- Lino flagged for a Wimbledon throw
- Our players either didn’t notice it was a Wimbledon throw or (more likely) chose to try and cheat the system by taking the throw, thus making the decision for the referee (who was indecisive). Our players’ body language suggested that it was an obvious Wycombe throw. It wasn’t. It was clearly a Wimbledon throw from my angle with perfect line of sight. Referee successfully conned.
- The lino must have electronically buzzed the ref multiple times to let the ref know he’d had a howler. Ref couldn’t take his eye off the pitch. I’m assuming the lino was electronically in the ref’s ear continuously telling him to stop play as ref had got one badly wrong
- Ref eventually stopped play
- Right decision. Wrong approach. We can’t be too disheartened. Rice is a wally.

Disagree. I was also right there and saw the ball come off the Wimbledon player, and remarked to my friend next to me at the time that it was our throw.

Referees have a hard enough job as it is without being (presumably) the subject of abuse from senior club officials

Are we sure it was abuse though Chris? I have no real detail of the actual incident.
However, I agree on reflection that an official of the club shouldn’t be involved in such an incident.
You’ve got to have behaved pretty badly to be charged with misconduct

It’s says improper manner, I wonder what improper means in this context, either way you can’t have a temporary Chairman in the Directors box abusing officials.
Not a good look for the club, no matter how hard done by we were during the game.

What constitutes misconduct? Other than anything physical, is it basically sweary questioning of the official’s integrity?
He started a chant questioning the ref’s parentage?
I wonder if he’s behaving like this because he’s under the very real threat of being sacked himself

Unless this video is a fake I dispute the fact it was a Wimbledon throw. Like you I was well positioned (and sober) but thought it was a Wycombe throw. The insistence of the linesman on holding his flag up from miles away with a much worse view than the referee and that being allowed to disallow the goal is a big issue here- Duff has mentioned the ref acknowledged his mistake.
I’m not saying what Rice did was correct but I think the referees decision was wrong, and I can understand the frustration.

In this video the angle is reversed from the away end view. I had clear line of sight from about as high and right as anyone could possibly have. Perfect angle. It was definitely a Wimbledon throw. The linesman likewise had a perfect view from the opposite angle. Very rare to see a linesman overrule the ref, especially when the ball is in play, so he must have been certain too.
Looks like a Wycombe throw and more to the point the ref gave it as a Wycombe throw and allowed play to go on. Goal chalked off in error. Those are facts.
Ref eventually went back on it because the lino was rightfully certain it was a Wimbledon throw. The linesman had a much better angle than the ref, as proven in the video. If the lino is overruling the ref in play then the ref has got something fundamentally wrong. The ref shouldn’t have stopped the game mid-flow, as he did multiple times incorrectly that afternoon, so I agree the goal should not have been chalked off. The ref had a very poor angle to qualify the ownership of a throw in by a corner flag. He should have checked with his linesman. He didn’t. That’s why he’s operating a League 1 game. People make mistakes. At the end of the day, we were dreadful in that first half and deserved nothing from that game.
