Didn’t think he had it in him. I think we all underestimated the passion levels in his corporate body. He cares after all. Maybe the ‘Rice Out’ thread is getting to him.

Apparently the fourth official said “data is fine up to a point but there are attributes that are unquantifiable and need a human eye with a deep knowledge of the game” as he was leaving the pitch and it all went off in the tunnel

How can the linesman have a perfect view when he is at the opposite side of the pitch. That’s like saying that our supporters in the Frank Adams stand or The Family Stand have a perfect view when the ball goes out near the dugouts. The referee was right next to the situation and TV replays show that the ball didn’t cross the line.
When I was a refereeing, a basic instruction would be working the pitch into 3rds. In the defensive third the ref was normally happy for the assistant to lead with throw-ins, middle third the instruction was to work together and delay the flag before going together. In the third furthest away from the assistant, you go with the ref. Assistants should only get involved for the tight “Is the ball over the line?” calls.
So this Assistant has ruined his season this year and in turn as destroyed the referee’s season as well. When a ref has to “apologise” It’s likely they will be taken off a set amount of games and/or will have recieved a crap mark which could put them at risk of demotion for that season

I’ve watched that video above about 10 times and slow mo’d it a couple of times too.
Really struggling to know how anyone can view that and not see it as a Wycombe throw.

The assistant referee who flagged was on the half way line (in front of the dug outs) on the same side of the pitch - he was not on the opposite side. That’s why his view was “perfect” with a clear line of sight down the line and able to determine when the ball crossed the line.
I’m not certain he could have been sure who got the last touch before it went out of play though.
Don’t forget it’s not out of play until all the ball is over all the line. Personally I was of the opinion that Henderson had carried it over the line before the drag back onto the Wimbledon player, and am assuming he was too.
Having rewatched the video I no longer think Henderson took it out of play. However, the referee appears not to check with his assistant before Henderson takes the quick throw and then his cusuin follows the ball.
At the time, and after watching the video, he does blow before the ball enters the net so whatever the outcome of him checking with the assistant a goal wasn’t going to be given.
This cracks me up. World war 3 over a throw in. The officials are human and if the qualified professional being paid to look at a straight white line gives or doesn’t give a decision then people should accept it. Some decisions will be wrong but the majority will be right. Nobody scores goals or wins or loses matches because of a throw in, these are short passages of play that last seconds within an hour and a half of football. Of all people I really don’t think Dan Rice is in a position to dig out match officials for making mistakes, they haven’t made mistakes as costly as some of the decisions he has signed off.

At the time I was fairly apologetic with rage over the turn of events, so I’m happy that DRs reaction has got him in trouble.
Much rather that than having him shrug it off as “just one of those things”.
DR has made a lot of mistakes but reacting angrily in the moment at Wimbledon isn’t one of them IMHO.

As somebody else on here has said, Dan might well be in ‘do i not like that’ mode where a match official could get him the sack.

I’m not sure anyone on this forum would be criticising Pete Couhig so angrily had he been caught up in something like this. In fact, I imagine he’d have been lauded for “showing passion”.

Storming in to the opposition directors’ box and saying no one shits on the Wycombe is one thing whereas ‘acting in an improper manner’ towards a referee is entirely different.

There are numerous things I’m upset with Dan Rice for. Losing it after an outrageous decision given against us is not one of them.
