Probably true, but in itself that isn’t a bad thing. Dubai is the same and people are falling over themselves to travel there. Without wanting to get into a political debate - I don’t think that Brits with flights / accomodation / match tickets are top of the agenda for deportation. So whilst i appreciate the issues, the whole argument not to travel because of it is probably blown out of proportion,
Dubai - Another place at the bottom of my list
Gasroom World Cup results predictions maybe?
I’d feel fairly comfortable about travelling for a game, but if I were a Muslim perhaps I might not
If people are comfortable with it, then go by all means. Two British tourists recently reported locked up there didn’t expect it would happen to them.
I assume the financial incentive ICE thugs have to apparently lock people up will be paused during the World Cup, so I would imagine for most people attending it will be relatively safe.
But with a mad ‘king’ on the throne anything could happen between now and then
Could of course bypass American all together and head to Canada. Very high up on the best places to live lists…
And if you don’t like living in Canada they’ll euthanize you for ftee
America is a bit like Russia, a big country which has parts where people never travel more than a few miles and see everyone as an Outsider. They distrust government but will believe it if their King tells them he is bravely defending them from attack from Aliens/Greenlanders/Dog eating Democrats There are plenty of others on both sides politically who have a realistic world view. Trump will be a real head shaker historically, I think. I liked New York and San Francisco but New Orleans and Florida had some very friendly but somewhat strange folks. I would not travel there while the Orange one is on his golden throne with orban, Truss and Farage kissing his ring but not yanks all are supporters. Then again, who would have thought that if you remade the Rambos now he would be supporting the fat racist sheriff and the baldy Russian?
Or Mexico?
I’ve only ever been to America once (as a kid to Disney World) so I have a very limited view on what life is actually like there. However, from what I’ve seen from different TV Shows etc is the clear divisions in America which makes me very nervous to ever visit it.
Example - Top Gear’s roadtrip in the Southern Areas, I know that some / most of that show was scripted but the part of that show where they were being tailed & threatened over what they had on their cars just makes you wonder. Why does everyone need to have the same views and get hounded if they don’t follow the norms? Whereas areas like LA & New York seem to be very open and accepting of different views or beliefs?
If you compare it to Australia (which has a bigger land size) where no matter what city you visit, the feel, culture and people all seem very accepting and apart from the cities having a different feel, I found that the Australians didn’t really change
I’ve been to the South and it was fine. Don’t believe what you see on Top Gear.
Agreed - it is fine ![]()
