I fear I never have, and never will, see England host the World Cup in my lifetime.
The comments are worth a read.
Dubai is like Beaconsfield.
There’s a lot of money knocking around it but there’s also an awful lot of self important classless people with too much money wandering around. And dare I say it, most of those aren’t originally from the area.
Dubai is fine to go to for a bit. The sort of place you can go on holiday and literally do anything from ski-ing to a 40 degree beach holiday in an afternoon.
But I’d pick Abu Dhabi if I was forced to choose an emirate.
I’d pick Oman
I’d rather spend two weeks in Beaconsfield than 1 night in Dubai.
I have just come back from Koh Yao Noi a very quiet, beautiful and relatively cheap island in Phang Nga Bay, Thailand. If you like the Far East, beautiful beaches, warm seas, great people and cheap quality accommodation then I would highly recommend it.
If Trump hadn’t fucked us all over then my flight with Qatar and my B&B for 10 nights was only £1200. Hired a scooter for 5 days it was £22. Seafood Thai Dinner with a beer for £6 per person.
Need a win tomorrow!
mrs micra and I are obviously too ancient to contemplate a trip
Just watching on tv feels difficult with the timings of a lot of the games.
I’ve seen far more Emiratis in central London than I’ve seen in Dubai. So you can save some money.
Thanks @wwwfcblue. Wonderful pictures. I only got to ‘trip’ in my earlier post because I had to come out to get back to your post to remind me where you’d been!! Of course I could just have said Far East. I was going to say that I kept looking in disbelief at those prices. I couldn’t quite work out how @Malone’s comment relates to my post but I think he’s referring to the complexities of organising travel around the States for optimum viewing of England matches.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Oman
Aaah, I can see why my unfinished comment about @wwfcblue ‘s trip to the Far East would have led you to think I was referring to the World Cup. Apologies.
“But I’d pick Abu Dhabi if I was forced to choose an emirate.”
Agrabah for me
My classic gasroom mistake of assuming all comments were about the thread title.
Should know betterings by now.
I love the idea of you tripping. Would you have taken a micradot, maybe?
Which one is the least oppressive and slave laboury?
Very hard to get enthusiastic about international football anymore. Just gave up on the Eng vs Uru match, already bored shitless by the lack of actual desire to play the game.
Quality comment - made me laugh
I’m not quite ready for a last farewell!!
@micra looking forward to many more years of supporting Wycombe Wanderers with you sir!
