The World Cup

If Hawkstone ever sponsor any club it will be an egg chasing one.

Rise above it @NewStyleOfPlay , you are much better than that.

When was that? Were you wearing a Che Guevara style beret?

Anyway, back to the football…

A well deserved win for France in the face of some agricultural grade assault & battery from Uruguay & one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve witnessed since last season in the National League.

Uruguay have often been cynical and dirty in the past, but you cant point the figure at them yesterday.

I thought they were playing Paraguay? Didn’t Uruguay get knocked out in the group and went home is disgrace?

For a slit second, as I scrolled through this morning’s non-sense, I actually got taken in by this!

Thank goodness it’s not true as the selection of beers is bad enough - I drink the bottled Ruby beer - with Hawkstone there wouldn’t be any choice.

What a lot of effort to post something so spectacularly unfunny

That will teach me to post at the arse end of the day, should have gone to my bed rather than posting that.

You are absolutely correct it should have said Paraguay.

You sound like a pleasant individual

A common theme on the politics thread (aka luxury beliefs aka total toilet aka Micra’s first LSD trip) is that left wingers are compassionate and loving people while everyone else is a heartless bastard. The reality is more like punks and hippies where the punks were nice people pretending to be nasty and the hippies were nasty people pretending to be nice.

Back on topic. MEXICAN WAVE!!!

At the end of the day, everyone knows that forcibly making fans drinks Rebellion is a Trotyskyite conspiracy. Why do you think they brew beers called things like Rebellion Red (Scare).

Back on topic. I’m prepared to deal with excuses about altitude, playing a host nation with an incredible home record, and some of Tuchel’s selections if England lose tonight. But please, please don’t let it be to a dodgy decision that gets talked about for the next 50 years of hurt.

Looks like trump has got Balogun’s red card suspended World Cup 2026: US striker Folarin Balogun's one-game red card ban suspended by Fifa - BBC Sport

I wonder how much that cost!

That is madness. Not wiped, but suspended!

Was never a red tbf.

In the words of the great Tim Vine:

ā€œWe’re going inā€
ā€œWe’re going to winā€
ā€œThen we’re coming back out againā€

It really is that simple.

The overturning of bans for political and commercial reasons is another stain on FIFA.

Surely Uefa and Conmebol have to start getting serious about a breakaway partnership.

You started the politics thread so you can watch people go at each other and pretend youre above it all while making funny right-wing asides about how angry woke lefties are (with or without comedy clips) so surely you’re pleased with the results?

I started the politics thread because one of the owners of this place said that somebody should start a politics thread because people were getting annoyed that political posts were creeping into the football threads. It seems to have achieved its purpose.
