Wycombe based podcast

If it was me and my job depended on results I would try to win whatever the boss told me…at least the fans would like me a bit and another employer might want me.

Rather than fans and forums screaming blue murder if someone else employed me.

latest episode of heroes is quite brutal.

Fatal but oddly comforting at the same time…..like it.

Now No.4, directly after ‘drowning in a vat of beer’ in ways I want to go…

I’m curious to hear what option 1 & 2 on the list are?

Put it this way - the new option 3 is probably more realistic than 1 or 2

To be honest, its an honest reflection of what we’ve said on here. Most of them want the club to succeed, if its with or without Dodds, thats out of our hands. They make some really good and honest points on there, some of them are on speaking terms with departing players and have heard that the club’s background as changed in a very negative way.

@DevineInspiration If some of the hosts are close to the players, either departed or still there, is it possible to get them on the podcast in an anonymity way?

Cheers for the feedback. Adam speaks with them after the game - it’s a hard position to put the players in.

Whole thing needs to settle down now players are in. Need a shift in our favour soon.

Fair enough and I know its a difficult situation for everyone involved. I know you guys are fairly balanced and you all speak from the love of the club with the only agenda being “How can Wycombe become better?”

Keep up the good work lads!

Totally agree with this. It’s always a well balanced view with some good banter thrown in. Also the chap who hosts, Micheal Kenny I think it is, would love to hear him on Co comms for a game (never happening under this regime though).

I know there has been mention of guests from some people, if it’s not possible to get a player on there, how about Pete Couhig? That would be a great episode.

Keep up the good work guys and thanks for providing the pod, I know a lot of people who enjoy it.

I’m not a regular listener to Heroes of HP12 (although maybe I should be) but that was very good.

Excellent podcast which is well worth listening to, best in class.

I don’t listen either but I assumed, probably because of the TalkSport association, that it would be geezers guffawing over their banter and talking extensively about stats.

Got that wrong. It was very good.

Couldn’t agree more.

Most fitba pods consist of a group of lads having banter and finding each other hysterically funny. This has understandably a more reflective, sombre tone.

This is finely nuanced and thoughtful for a change to other podcasts, thank you.

Hats off to all concerned, I’ll say no more.

I’m listening now and as a podcast junkie, I can say it’s a good one and is now in my weekly feed.

This week’s is certainly thought provoking. The discussion of the CVs of Mike and the iPad lads , when you think about it, is mind blowing. Such a lack of experience, such a lack of success. I get you have to start somewhere in any job and you don’t have to have done a specific job to lead a team but to create a first team coaching unit with what seems to be collectively very limited leadership skills really makes me wonder about whether the OG give a rats arse about first team success, beyond success being not getting relegated.

I’ve said it before and I stand by it. Right now for the academy project, having a league 1 club is fine. Low enough level to showcase/blood academy players of the level we have right now. High enough to hopefully allow some signings to show a bit of individual stuff and be ready to sell on. Buy a Dane for half a mill, sell for a mill. Good business.

Get promoted and stay up is usually achieved with a big spend. ML’s got the cash but the project is the Academy and having a club that fits the academy.

Grabbing some loans at the end of the window speaks to how bad we’ve looked. Don’t spend too much, get them in and we’ll stay up and it’s job done.

Totally agree, it’s an excellent podcast. I’ve been listening to it since last season, and the discussion in particular this week was really impressive. I didn’t realise the coaching staff lacked actual football playing experience.

The most frustrating thing for me is as fans we have zero input/control over events, except with our reactions and support at a match. It’d be great if the crowd can stay behind the players - imagine how good it would feel once we start getting results (okay, thats an if!) and as a group we can feel we helped with that by staying positive. To me, if it gets toxic there won’t be the same satisfaction if it does come good.

I think the OG have been quite clear that the academy is the main priority, as is the pathway to the first team. That’s why MD was approached, as he can own the pathway. Its quite possible all of them have underestimated how difficult it is getting it right. Even though the academy is the priority, there’s no denying they’ve spent loads in the ‘first team space’ .

I also thought the idea was for everyone at the club, from first team down to the academy, would be playing the same style of football. It’s the head coaches job to get that right with the first team. But who sets the style and what is it? Describe it somebody please if you’ve got a clear idea! MD has talked of him implementing his style now, but is it his or has it been dictated to him? And given the lack of football playing experience amongst the coaching staff who is to stay that this style is workable. Because clearly its not getting results.

Each week that goes by seems to be presenting more questions than answers.

But to get back on track, the podcast is well worth a listen.

I listened to a lot of it earlier, based on recommendations here. If I were to offer a critique, it would be better for the presenters to converse more rather than each take it turn to deliver a multiple-minute monologue, albeit thoughtful, well prepared and eloquent. More interruptions, questions, commentary, side-bars – a bit like a conversation in a pub. At the moment it was a little too much like an Oxford Union debate – except all the team were on the same side. It would be helpful for the listener – and indeed the hosts – to include a voice providing the counter-narrative, i.e. Dodds stays, Rice good etc, if only to spark dialogue and allow each to develop their arguments. Also - a woman among the panel wouldn’t be amiss. But overall, enjoyable - lots of interesting material and some very eloquent fans. If they’re not all individually posting on the Gasroom already, why not?!

Thank you for the feedback!

Usually we are a bit more chatty and the usual style is if we were talking around the pub. Plus I’m generally always in disagreement with Adam!

Think with everything going on, this week we just all wanted to get our piece across. It’ll go back to the usual format. But thank you for the feedback - and agree with getting a female voice on there too.

Please don’t take this the wrong way. Can you limit the 1st chap, (Adam Cooper?) to a minute or at most two. I am an avid listener and have been for the last two years, Adam does tend to take all the oxygen out of the conversation and leaves little room for anybody else. I also would like to take issue with his “holier than thou” attitude. Every club has their racists, boo merchants, cheats or whatever has got up Adams nose that week. They are in the minority and do not represent the club as a whole so there is no need to take the moral high ground, just don’t give them airtime, it is a waste & in years to come, he will still be getting on his high horse about it. Just ignore, a bit like the TV companies don’t show a streaker or anything else that detracts from the positive side of the game. I noticed that Damien made a similar observation a few weeks ago. That said Adam also makes some excellent observations and talks mostly common sense, so please keep up the good work. Overall an excellent show and please keep going.
