Very surprised to see Luca Woodhouse on that list.
In terms of his development trajectory he was coming along very nicely. Highly regarded at Aldershot following his loan period.
Only 20, six foot plus can play left back, centre half and midfield.
Given the club has identified its future as developing and blooding its own young talent, I’d have thought we’d have persevered a bit longer with Luca.
This has surprised me too. Only saw Luca a handful of times for us but always looked composed and solid. It’s a shame that we’ve released him, feel like that’s a potential mistake.
Well it looks like GA & Doddo have a lovely selection of ex-Wycombe players to choose from this summer. Sadlier, Vokes, Franco (altho will prob stay in League 1), Hanlan, Gape, Wheeler (from Shrewsbury), maybe even Taff on the cheap!
Very tough on Sads. I think he was our best player at the end of the 23/24 season. Extremely unfortunate with injury. He could be an excellent signing for another side.
Not too many surprises otherwise, although a shame to see some of those players leave. Vokes’ goal at home to Franchise in the play offs was one of the highlight moments of the last few seasons. Brilliant control to take it out of the sky and then a wonderful header, in off the post in front of the terrace. Such a shame that his final game for us ended the way it did. He’s a player I’ve really enjoyed watching.
Perhaps the surprise is how many players are under contract for next season. I’d imagine that for players like Butcher and Hartridge a loan may be in everyone’s best interests.
I’ve been really impressed with Reach since he’s come in, definitely would have kept him. The experience and versatility on the left side is not an easy thing to replace, and I feel we would have seen an even better iteration of him with a full preseason under his belt too. Will be interested to see where he ends up, but I am disappointed that he’s moving on.
No longer offers anything meaningful. Once a solid player, he could fill in and do a job, but that’s about it now. Against a youthful and energetic Charlton side, our team looked slow and lethargic and his role at left wing-back, a key position in our system, lacked any pace or overlapping threat. We can and should be looking for better options.
I think the recruitment will look something like the above. So a minimum of 10 signings. Probably it will end up closer to 12 or even 15, particularly if others from the retained list leave.
Clearly the entire spine of the team needs to be reshaped. Busy summer ahead.

Based on these suppositions (not preferences), a first XI might look like this…
(4-2-3-1)
GEORGE
GRIMMER - HAGELSKJAER - NEW SIGNING - HARVIE
WESTERGAARD - LEAHY
McCLEARY - LOWRY - ONYEDINMA
UDOH
The only down-side of that team is that McCleary will struggle to see out 90 minutes in every game. We’d need to have an inter-changeable player with him
I’m not certain about the details anymore but it used to be (on Championship manager!) if you offered a new contract on at least the same terms then you were entitled to compensation. But the real world may be more complex!
