More signings. 27 year old midfielder Laura Hennessey joins from QPR, where she started as a 13 year old and has been there ever since, apart from a brief spell at Oxford United. She brings years of National League experience.

Goalkeeper Lucia Delves has signed from Chesham United, which she joined in 2018 and is another with extensive National League experience.

The opening fixtures for the Firsts have been published. Add in the FA Cup 2QR on 21st September. Beaconsfield away on the opening day is a cracker. NPT is in the Berks & Bucks.

Note that Selsey have withdrawn from the league, they are not in Division 1S, or the Hants County League. I fear they may have folded. The Premier Division will run with 11 teams.

The annual Sponsors Cup takes place at Burnham on Sunday, against Newport Pagnell Town. I assume kick-off is 2pm and free entry.

The Firsts squad has been announced. I will list the departures next weekend, along with a season preview, before the opening fixture.

Good to see the term ‘finishers’ is being used! Some of the new signings are absent, and Charlotte Baker is new.

Nice weather, nice ground (Burnham FC), and a 5-2 win including a great near post header.

One of the W3 coaches confirmed yesterday what this second promotion spot from tier 5 was. The second placed team with the best record in all eight tier 5 leagues this season will be promoted. I presume this is to even up an odd number in the leagues above. Had this been applied last season, W3 would have been sixth of the eight second placed teams.

Thank you for this. Really good read. We are trying to go to as many games as possible.

The U16s and U18s get their season under way on Saturday, in the usual JPL Cup Group matches, which precede the main league. W3 will be fielding an U16 team for the first time.

U16s JPL Cup fixtures:

U18s JPL Cup fixtures:

Both teams have also entered the new Berks & Bucks Girls’ Invitational Cups, which run alongside the traditional Girls’ Cups. These initially run as a group stage and include teams from Oxon, Herts, Northants and Cambs, so very ambitious. All matches kick-off at 10:00.

U16s B & B Invitational:

20 Sep - Watford Wasps v U16s

18 Oct - U16s v Reading

15 Nov - St Albans v U16s

17 Jan - U16s v Procision Oxford

Other teams in the large group, who the U16s do not play, are Watford Warriors, Peterborough United, Northampton Town, Wellingborough Town and MK.

U18s B & B Invitational Cup:

20 Sep - U18s v Ascot United

18 Oct - U18s v MK

17 Jan - Slough Town v U18s

28 Feb - Peterborough United v U18s

You can see that both teams have a clash with the JPL on 20 September. Traditionally county games take precedence, we will see!

Tomorrow the Firsts travel to Fleet Town in the league, another of the newcomers to this division. Last week they lost 4-2 at home to Southampton Women’s FC in their opener, with former Chairgirl Chloe Ball bagging two for the visitors. Fleet won Division 1 South by two points from Havant & Waterlooville. KO 2pm at The Easy As HGV Stadium, Calthorpe Park, Crookham Road, Fleet GU51 5FA.

The other Southern Premier results today.

Oxford City are up next Sunday at home. They came from two behind at Southampton with a late equaliser, and a late sending off for retaliation. Reading’s defeat at Beaconsfield is telling, Sholing had a good win today, but lost 3-2 at Oxford City last week. Southampton beat Fleet 4-2 last week, I thought they might be stronger. Portchy had a late winner against the Flyers last week and, to me, still look like the main challengers, but there’s a long way to go.

The Firsts have been drawn at home to Oxford City in the league cup, to be the played on 2nd November.
