Tomorrow, Saturday, the U18s are at home to Erith & Belvedere in the JPL Cup. Kick-off 10.30am at the 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG. Free entry.

The U16s have no game this week. Last week’s game at Goffs Oak appears to have not been played.

The U18s beat Erith & Belvedere 10-0 in the JPL Cup yesterday. The U16s match last week at Goffs Oak did not take place, the home side were unable to fulfill the fixture.

I found out today the the Firsts have been entered into two midweek competitions this season.

The First one is the Isthmian Women’s Cup and the Chairgirls have been drawn away to Haringey Borough, to be played this Wednesday evening I believe. I haven’t been able to find match details yet but I will try and found out for any Londoners who might want to see it. Who would have thought that a Wycombe Wanderers team would once again be competing in an Isthmian League competition!

The second one is the Combined Counties Women’s Cup and all I can find, so far, is a list of clubs who have entered, as at 22 August:

Actonians
AFC Portchester
Ashford Utd (Kent)
Ashford Tn (Middx)
Beaconsfield Tn
Brook House
Burgess Hill
CB Hounslow & Abbots
Chatham Town
Chessington Utd
Dartford
Eastbourne Borough 1st
Eastbourne Borough U18s
Frimley Green
Gosport Borough
Haringey Borough
Hastings Utd
Horley
London Bees
Maidenhead Utd
Margate
Merstham
Penn & Tyler Green
QPR
Reading FC
Richmond & Kew
South Park
Sutton Utd
Three Bridges
Tonbridge Angels
Watford
Windsor & Eton
Wycombe Wanderers

Some of the distances involved for both cups, for players with daytime jobs, seem rather extensive!

What a weird set of teams! London Bees play in the Premier League don’t they?

They play in National League D1 SE, tier 4, @Floyd. You might be thinking of London City Lionesses who are in the WSL.

Thanks. I was!

That’s amazing news, it feels like there is some real momentum in W3 at the moment.

For those interested the women in football forum has been confirmed for Wednesday 8th October from 7pm at Adams Park:

I would be interested in knowing why the Trust subsidise W3 when WWF are now responsible for their running. WWF have a £1 million turnover, looking at their accounts for YE 31 August 2024. I’m not complaining, just interested!

Haringey Borough have now posted the Isthmian Cup game against W3. It’s on this Wednesday 17th at 19:45, at the CVS Van Hire Stadium, Coles Park, White Hart Lane, London N17 7JP (3G Pitch).

It is 1.1 miles from both Wood Green Underground (Piccadilly) and White Hart Lane Overground (Weaver) . The W3 bus connects both stations and stops outside the ground.

Haringey have already played six league games this season and are second in the Eastern Region Premier, same level as W3. They have a 3-2-1 record. Last season they finished fourth out of 12. It’s free entry tonight, I will be there and posting updates.

Match day thread for the game now up, COYB

Coming up tomorrow, the youth teams begin their group stages in the Berks & Bucks Invitational Cups. As expected, these take precedence over the JPL matches in the fixture clashes.

Watford U16 Wasps v U16s - Venue: Parmiters Sport Centre, High Elms, Watford, WD25 0UU. The Watford Ladies website gives the kick-off time as 14:00, the B & B site says 10:00.

U18s v Ascot United U18 - Venue: The 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG. KO 10:00.

Two weeks ago the U18s lost 4-1 at Ascot in the JPL. I heard that the Chairgirls had many more chances than their opponents, who were more clinical on the day.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the Firsts start their eighth FA Cup campaign with a visit to Wallingford & Crowmarsh in 2QR. “The Wally” play in Thames Valley Counties Division 1, finishing mid-table last season. So far this term they had a 4-1 win at fellow Division 1 side Yateley United in the FA Cup 1QR, and a 1-0 defeat last weekend in the league at Caversham United, who were relegated from Southern Region D1N last season. Two levels is a big difference in standard, but the Chairgirls will not underestimate them after losing to lower level opponents last season.

Kick-off 2pm at Wallingford Sports Park OX10 9RB.

The Chairgirls have been drawn at home to Chesham United in the FA Cup 3QR, to be played on Sunday 5th October. Great, a local derby, and a good test against a tier 4 side!

Edit - a candidate for playing at Adams Park.
