You are correct. Sorry to have wasted your time stat checking. Perhaps it was minutes played in the Premiership but it always was a surprising stat, especially given Matt was put out in the cold - due I believe to a contract clause that would have given him another year had he played one more game.
My favourite two Matt moments being:
Away at Bristol Rovers although he is a named sub zero chance of coming on and not enough places on the makeshift ‘bench’ at The Meme so he gets a plastic garden chair and sits in-front of the Wycombe fans with a big grin on his face.
The other away at Beaconsfield in the B&B hits a screamer from the centre circle top bins, one of the best goals I’ve ever seen in the quarters.
I liked him.
Speaking of fringe mid fielders back in that era, who was the guy who had played for Arsenal but left to launch a men’s fashion range - long dark hair. Unlike Matt at complete grifter.
John Halls?
That’s what comes from relying on AI!
Sam Saunders created some sort of luxury swimming trunk brand. Just reloojed it up, went into administration. It was very pricey trunks
John Hall’s was one of the worst players I’ve ever seen for WWFC, unfit, no desire, Waddock just using his limited contact book, to give old mates a contract.
Yes thank you both guys that is the ‘player’ I was thinking of.
I’ve always loved Nick Hornbey’s chapter on Arsenal defender Gus Caesar - how the f#ck did he get to come through the ranks and play 50 times for the Arse?!
John Halls another product of that generation of Arsenal academy.Seems he actually made three first team appearances!
To be fair he can score absolute thunderbastards
he’s now the Head Coach of Brentford’s B team
The lobbed goal at Plainmoor one of the seminal moments in our league history
Indeed, feeling very old! I guess he found his level but when he came through in those dark times he seemed like a hot prospect.
A shame his sublime goal against the horse punchers was overshadowed by their shenanigans and the lowest of lows in defeat.
Still, not to be outdone he scored another belter just a week later. And the rest is history, as they say.
Is that Sean Norman second from right, middle row?
Steve Abbley?
Correct
My mistake it’s only 3 players
Incorrect
Andy Kerr?
Scott Young second from right, front row?
Gary Smith?
I’ll also have a punt on John Ray, third from left back row.
