From Liverpool to Glasgow and now to leafy suburban Bromley. Quite a journey for an out and out Scouser!

I reckon our current match line up is as follows:
3 goalies
2 defenders (central)
5 midfielders
1 Bradley boy up Front !
Haven’t seen any movement in the market to convince me otherwise !
Well it has been very quiet but here is my take on what has (or in our case hasn’t) been happening.
Goalkeeper we have addressed with 2 big lads. Anything has to be better than Norris surely.
I think we will be going to a back 3 this season - it is Duff’s preferred formation and with the players we have it will be pretty easy to fluidly change between a 3 and 4.
Currently we are well stocked with good centre backs for a 3. My first choice 3 would be Grimmer, Cook and Hagelskaer. With Casey, Skura, Taylor and Allen also around.
Left wing back we have Harvie and Allen. Right wing back we have Quitirna, and also have Grimmer who can play there if we need a more defensive option on the right.
I think defensively we can switch between 3 and 4 depending on the game and match situation.
Midfield 3 we have an array of quality options.
I think striker might be the only place we really need to strengthen and a left winger. Bringing those in late is not really going to impact team cohesion as much as a GK or defender would. We have Fink and Fred currently. I think we’ll be looking at buying two strikers and a left winger, at least one marquee signing for the striker slot, and if it takes until August to get the right man, that is what we’ll have to wait for.

I’m assuming that if we have the players to play it and the manager knows how to organize it, it will work. Possibly if you recruit a lot of unproven players who can’t play it and then make the coach who had no say in recruitment try to make it work, it might all go to Cock. Again.

Duff has said in many interviews that he is not wedded to any one system.
Maybe they said “your record at Wycombe was really shit” on greeting him at the gates.

I don’t know. But we have a wealth of central defenders now and Jack Grimmer (for example) has always been at his best in my opinion when playing as a right sided centre back. He’s only just 6’ and Steve Cook in the centre is a mere 6’1” (both according to the ever reliable (?) Wikipedia).
Luke O’Nien - same height as Arthur Fery! - has increasingly played as a central defender in recent seasons.
If we do intend to play with three central defenders it would seem sensible for the third one to have a bit more height. At 6’4”, Anders Haegelskar (?) would be the obvious choice, disregarding the irony that he is probably the most technically accomplished of our central defenders (who loves to get forward and also throw the ball into the opposition box) but not necessarily the best defensive header of shots and crosses.
NB Before anyone gets overexcited, I referred to Luke O’Nien merely as an example of height not always being an essential requirement to be a central defender.
Magnus Watch: Magnus Westergaard was the first player hooked for Valerenga, during their 4-0 reverse at table-topping Tromso. Following a mid-season break, the Norwegian top flight has returned and yesterday was a chastening reintroduction for the men from Oslo. Valerenga sit 10th/16 after 12 games played.
