January window - go/stay, sign

My colleague is a Chesterfield fan, he told me that Berry has struggled to make their match day squad far less starting XI & that he blows hot & cold when he does get on. He also wonders what we saw that convinced us to take him on anything other than a free.

Data Erroll, Dan Rice saw Data!!!

I apologise to everyone else for dragging @thedancingyak into something he had absolutely no interest in being involved with.

Wait. I recognise this tactic. Not sure if you are aware of it though but just as a heads up

Micra is no troll.

If people can stop disrupting the thread with utter nonsense we can get to the important business…

Of ranting about players who haven’t played well today and suggesting they might need to be booted out.

Ordinarily I would have agreed. But for some Reason he does tick off at least some of the things that are trolling aligned. Maybe it’s his age and not really being down with internet etiquette but there was literally no need to tag me twice on something completely irrelevant - so why do so unless he was trying to fish, attract attention and/or a reaction.

If it wasn’t trolling, what was it?

Relationships are a tricky things at the best of times, especially online.

I used to tickle Micra gently about his love of quoting men’s heights and gave him a few down votes every time he mentioned how his posts got down votes.

Then realised he didn’t like the former, and took the latter as people getting at him (which i think some may have been doing, whereas others did it like me, as a little in joke because he mentioned it).

However, once I realised he was getting upset at the two things, I stopped doing it.

Am sure now you’ve properly made yourself clear this is upsetting you, he’ll stop mentioning you.

Agreed. Some absolutely miserable signings in the summer. Apart from Fred O and Grimmer the rest can go. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of clubs lining up for Connor Taylor. Perhaps the best release in January would be Stockwell?

It wasn’t anything.

If I was Michael Duff and I had two windows to sort this squad this is what I would do, to start 26/27 season IF the aim is promotion from League 1.

Current FIRST TEAM Squad (27 players)

Norris - Go

Van Saas - Stay (potential)

Moore - Go

Grimmer - Stay

Back - go

Huggins - go

Taylor - Go

Casey - Go

Skura - Go

Hagelskaer - Stay

Allen - Stay

Harvie - Stay

Scowen - Stay

Abbott - Will leave

Leahy - stay

Mullins - stay (potential)

CBM - go (but not really seen enough of him)

Lowry - stay (potential)

Westergaard - go

Henderson - stay

Fred - stay

Woodrow - Go

Bell - Try to sign (but he needs to develop physically)

Fink - Go

Quitirna - stay

Tilley - Go

McNeilly - Go

I am assuming all players on loan are all surplus to requirements and will go. That would bring the squad number down to 13. Then I would look to sign 7 players - GK, alternative right back, right sided centre back, Aaron Morley, Left winger alternative and 2 strikers to give a squad of 20 players.

GK, New first choice, van Saas

RB - Grimmer, new alternative

RCB - New CB, Grimmer

LCB, Hagelskaer, Allen

LB - Harvie, Allen

Midfield 3 - Morley, Scowen, Henderson, Leahy, Mullins, Lowry

Right Wing - Fred, Quitirna

Left Wing - Bell, New alternative

Striker - 2 New options (one with physical presence, one with pace)

It says it all (except to the one poster who relentlessly says how he will “come good”), that you haven’t even remembered our 850k midfield Dane in there!

I am pretty much in agreement but with the exception of Lowry who I do not believe is good enough for a team pushing for promotion from League 1.

For me, Lowry has a LOT of potential so I want to keep him on board if possible. In the 6 midfielders I listed, he would be 6th choice currently though. But as an impact sub at times I still think he offers something different.

What did Alex Lowry offer today?

This is a bit harsh on Henderson,Bell has scored six goals in the league and Anders is a good defender.

why are we keeping Leahy and Grimmer?

Fatastic post and so true. The difference is that Gaz sand Dobbo would actually go out and watch players, rather than looking at data and staring at a computer!

Because they are two of our best performers this season
