January window - go/stay, sign

I mean the reason was I felt we needed strengthening in other areas but yeah, that was an all time bad take on events

Doesn’t get much worse than the bloke whose signing you were against going on to be the greatest signing in your club’s history

I don’t think it was an entirely unusual opinion at the time

The reality is we have no better players now than those who played in the second leg of the playoffs against Charlton. I would suggest far worse. Even the bench was far stronger than currently. This is down to the recruitment by Rice and Stockwell. It would be interesting to have an honest conversation with those two guys to see if they think we’ve improved . Younger but certainly not improved.

Aside from ONE midfielder and ONE striker for cover/ competition, I do not want a single signing in January unless absolutely necessary.

Apart from conspiring to force Blooms to leave his job, and then hire someone inadequate to take over, let’s not forget the OG signed 12 new players in January. It added to the shambolic second half of the season. I don’t really trust them to make add anyone worthwhile.

Of course, if Duff is desperate for a certain position or player, that’s fine by me. I am sceptical over whether he’ll have much say in it.

I take issue with the phrase ‘ownership group’

It really is an absent billionaire with deep pockets, his equally silent son-in-law and a corporate stooge in way way way above his paygrade.

And a very big swing back to thinking a lot of our players are pony after we’d started to think they were all quality after all.

I think even the biggest positivity merchants have stopped saying we have a strong squad though.

Big squad yes.

Hard to imagine a stronger aerial defender than Bradley.

And while a lot of defenders are good at defensive aerial work, he was one those rare ones where every attacking setpiece you had a real hope he’d get on the end of it.

I was excited by this thread but reading that opening message I am not going to bother. Mullins, are you for real? There is a cracking player in there and Brighton have a “buy back” option on him - that’s how good.

Is Matty Godden available? Or Sam Smith. We need someone like this.

I’m now of the thinking that since we invested a lot of cash in Fink, he needs to be given a real chance to prove his worth, and that means a run of games for 90 minutes and plan the attack around him.

Surely between him, the coaches and the rest of the team it can be worked out the best way to deliver the service he needs.

A few wins - maybe this squad is really good

ONE loss - everyone is rubbish!!!

Stuart Beavon took multiple seasons to come good, there are quite a few young players in our squad who will do the same. Fink, Mullins and Magnus will all end up being good signings. I’m very confident of that.

Junior overhyped dribbles in a circle - then checks back passes to the Flying Scotsman of RB. Fred on the other hand - gets in behind/splits the lines/gets goals and assists.

We probably need to send a few players out on loan so they can get game time, we also need to send Huggins & McNeilly back to their parent clubs as they are unlikely to get game time & certainly are not better than those ahead of them.

We dont need major surgery on the squad especially as we have Scowen, Henderson & Abbott to come back from injury.

We do need an experienced No9

Midfield not the issue/nor is CB. Our issue is out wide the players behind Bell/Fred are not good enough/have done sweet FA like our strikers.

We also need a quality goalkeeper. Norris is ok as cover but Van Sas is not League 1 standard although he may get there in time.

I’m increasingly of the belief that @Chairboys80 must be an elaborate wind up account.

Magnus is 28 in may, this is his peak

Looking on the evidence so far, you’re just wasting a spot in the team. He needs a loan out to a National League team to see if he’s any good. Not convinced so far.

Perhaps playing alongside Bartolo at Chesham would help him.
