Aside from Adams Park, the Southern League Division One Central was a great destination for goal-hungry patrons today. League leaders Leighton Town thrashed bottom side AFC Dunstable 6-0. Biggleswade delivered a 7-2 pummeling to Marlow and Aylesbury United pumped already-relegated Rayners Lane 10-1, while surely sealing their Step 4 status for another season.
Two levels below, Holmer Green did their neighbours Penn a huge favour in their title hunt by beating Bedfont 4-2 in the CCL Division One.

Big win for Amersham Town tonight, defeating bottom dwellers Edgware & Kingsbury. I don’t think they’d won a league game since October 11…against Edgware & Kingsbury. Their good start to the season could yet save them but they’re only two points above the drop zone in the Combined Counties Prem North, albeit North Leigh has two games in hand.

Winslow 3-2 Kings Langley, Spartan Prem.
Enjoyable game played at a frenetic pace, largely a long ball game by two physical teams. Kings twice took the lead, the first three goals, all well taken, came in a five minute period in the first half. Winslow made it 2-2 in added time just before the break with a penalty. Kings had been the better team so far but Winslow dominated in the second half, scored on 69’ and missed a penalty in added time, for conceding which Kings had a player sent off. Attendance 172.
That win took Winslow to the top, in a 38 game season it’s theirs to lose now. Ten days ago they lost 2-1 at Haringey. On Saturday they have a derby at Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, on Monday a big game home to Biggleswade United, then two home games against lower half teams, Arlesey Town and AFC Welwyn. Latest table.

Looks like the CCL Div One title is Penn’s to lose following today’s 2-0 win over Spartans. They’re two points clear of Bedfont with two games in hand.
Holmer Green beat London Samurai Rovers 3-2 and have been on a good run but they’re likely to run out of games to mount a proper play-off push. A +49 goal difference is some going for a team ninth in the league.

If you’re not going to ‘Uddersfield tomorrow you may wish to get down to French School Meadow. Penn can seal the title and promotion with a win against Wembley as I believe Bedfont only have one fixture remaining.
Those who went to the B&B game earlier in the season, or have been before, will know it’s a lovely set-up, albeit can be tricky to park when they draw a crowd over three figures.

Holmer Green put three goals past Petr Cech’s son Damian in the Molesey goal last night. Rumour has it Cech Snr. was spotted putting Jnr. through his paces in the warm-up at Watchet Lane.
But despite their record-breaking (I think) winning run the Greens just fall short of the play-offs in the CCL Div 1. Incredible considering they were going nowhere a few months ago.
Penn have understandably been on the beers and they’re currently 3-2 down at Westside but it’s all immaterial to the champions. They’ll lift the trophy at home to Oxhey Jets on Saturday.
In the same division, Chalfont’s relegation has been ‘confirmed’, insofar as they’ve finished in the relegation spots. They’ll have to wait to see which club(s) get pooled from Step 7, and whether they meet the grading, before finding out if they’ll earn a reprieve.
In the league above, there will be a ‘game of death’ at Spratleys Meadow. Amersham Town need to beat Holyport to stay up whereas a point would do for the Maidenhead-based side.

I saw him netminding for Oxford City Stars at the Slough Jets a couple of years ago. He was OK. Fair play to him!

To be honest he didn’t have a blinder and was at fault for at least one goal - but he’s playing an entirely different sport at a decent level, that involves skating, so I was very impressed.

In the Spartan Premier last night, Haringey Borough drew 0-0 at Cockfosters and so pipped Winslow to the title, on a goal difference of three.
On Tuesday, Winslow lost 3-2 at home to AFC Welwyn, a match I attended. Welwyn took three of their four chances, Winslow two out of about 15. The Ploughmen were missing their two top scorers through injury. The crowd was a remarkable 564, the biggest for many years and possibly a record for a league game, and more than at the B & B Final that night.
In the play-offs, Winslow will be at home to either Kings Langley or Cockfosters, those two meet tomorrow. Risborough Rangers will be at home to either Cockfosters or Kings Langley, or away to Cockfosters. These are single leg games with the higher placed team at home.
Cockfosters’ run to the FA Vase Final has caused a fixture pile-up. They have played 15 matches since the beginning of March, six this month, with three more in the coming week.
Ouch that’s tough on Winslow. Hopefully an all-Bucks play-off final to come! Presumably the promoted team goes up into the Southern League Div 1 Central?

Amersham Town lost their final game of the season 2-1 to Holyport, with 175 at Spratleys Meadow. The late winner condemns Amersham to the drop, after just one season in the CCL Prem North. Holyport survive having found a couple of wins at just the right time. In the same division, Windsor & Eton and Burnham make the play-offs and could end up facing each other once W&E finish playing catch-up on their remaining fixtures.
Penn signed off as CCL D1 champions with a 3-0 win over Oxhey Jets. Holmer Green’s campaign ended, along with their winning streak, with a 3-0 reverse at Westside. The Greens will be hoping to avoid any sticky spells next term and make a proper fist of a promotion tilt. Meanwhile, Chalfont were leapfrogged and finish bottom of the pile.
Still a game or two remaining in the other leagues. Maidenhead are a point outside the play-offs in the NL South ahead of the final day and travel to title chasing Hornchurch. I haven’t worked out the other permutations as it’s pretty nuts.

In the Spartan Premier, Cockfosters drew 1-1 with Kings Langley, Risborough Rangers beat Harlow Town 3-0, so the single leg play-off SF games on 29 April are:
Risborough Rangers v Cockfosters
Winslow United v Kings Langley
29 April is when the Chairgirls U18s play their B & B Cup Final against MK at Princes Risborough, so presumably that will be moved.

I have been invited to attend the Dover v Chesham game on Saturday, Dover is my local team & sponsored by my main client, but I grew up in GX & went to school in Amersham (DCGS).
For those not travelling to Lincoln, Beaconsfield Town have what they are calling project 500 this Saturday. The idea is to achieve an attendance of 500 or more. The Beaconsfield Town current record attendance being 474.
Prices have been reduced in an attempt to beat the record.

Surprised that is Beaconsfield’s record attendance considering they’ve been up to Step 3 and had a few cup runs of different sorts. Good luck to them in hitting 500.
