If I remember correctly the then reserve team manager and ex player Keith Mead, was being prepared to play in Antons absence. It would have been about 2 years, since Mead’s last 1st team game.
It’s proper down to business time in the lower leagues with proper prizes at stake.

W&E had to play mega catch-up to finish their fixtures and in the end they finished just a point away from the champions, Ashford Town (Middx). Hopes will be high of yet another promotion but the pride of a tiny/borderline corner of South Bucks will have something to say about that.

Cockfosters have already made the FA Vase final and will be looking for another shot at glory when they head to the KAMTECH Stadium. Rangers have found the sideways move to this division more to their liking having just beaten the drop to Step 6 last term. With much-needed ground improvements in the offing, the men in red will be eager to reach the final and make the step up.
Winslow were agonisingly pipped to the title on goal difference, finishing 10 points clear of Kings Langley. No doubt resident superfan @StevePeart will keep us abreast of proceedings in deepest, darkest Bucks.
Also on Wednesday, Maidenhead United travel to Dorking Wanderers for their NL South play-off eliminator.

@williwycombe Thank you for the updates on the local clubs. What improvements are planned at Risborough Rangers’ Ground?
New main stand, changing rooms and hospitality areas, increasing the capacity to over 2600. I think ground grading was a reason for a non-promotion in recent years?
They’ve done a lot behind the scenes, merging the junior and senior sections, more provision for girl’s/women’s football, and now this latest move.
The billionaires have hoovered up the top clubs, and this trend has extended further (hello, WWFC!). But there are pockets in the deep reaches of non-league, where fan and community-owned clubs are setting themselves up in law as community assets, working to protect their grounds and reinvest in facilities. I read a post recently about fan-owned Clapton CFC and how they’re doing things. It is still possible, but sadly you have to go really far down the pyramid now to make it work.

Holmer Green beat Penn 3-1 at French School Meadow to make the cup final.
Windsor & Eton will meet Broadfields United in the CC Prem North play-off final after narrowly beating Burnham 1-0. 833 at Stag Meadow according to FWP. That level of support is comparable with Slough three divisions higher.

Tonight in the Southern League First Division play off semi finals, the Canaries of Hitchin are at home to the Red Kites from Thame.
The winners will meet either Biggleswade FC (who play in Bedford) or Biggleswade Town in the Final
Real Bedford host Kettering Town tonight as well in a Southern Premier Central play-off, so the two Bedford grounds just yards apart will be in use at the same time. Parking will be interesting.
Holmer Green beat noisy neighbours Penn and Tylers Green 3-1 last night in the semi final of the CC Div 1 league cup. HG will play Hillingdon Borough in the final which, very sadly, will be the last match for their opponents following “their resignation from competitive football “. There have been several iterations of the club since its formation over a hundred years ago. I’m old enough to remember when they were known as Yiewsley & West Drayton.

Very sad about Hillingdon Borough. I saw a post the other day about their final home game. It attracted around 100 folk, including a few ground hoppers, which is apparently quite good for them. I still hope Holmer lift the cup though, I fancy them for a good promotion charge next season.
I remember Hillingdon Boro folding in about 83, then a new club Hillingdon FC carried on with Boro’s league status. A couple of years later, they merged and became Burnham & Hillingdon. Burnham took the higher Southern league position from their own Athenial league status (not sure this is still allowed) Then within a couple of years dropped Hillingdon from their name.

I went to Winslow, even first half, chances for both sides. Winslow took the game to Kings second half, goals on 48’ and 63’, Kings scored on 75’. A deserved win for the Ploughmen. About 500-600 there. Final at Winslow on Monday.
