Please god no, I can’t take any more Wycombe Nil for a couple of months.

Wouldn’t want to even go near suggesting they are thrown out or anything like that, day trippers and YouTube kids shouldn’t spoil it for the majority but it needs investigating, the response was too slow and inadequate, and those throwing things should be facing bans and certainly shouldn’t be allowed their day out at Wembley

Anyone else feel so angry this morning?

Not angry with the football.

But angry with just how badly our fans (and players) were treated. By Charlton ā€œfansā€, stewards and police. The whole episode was an absolute disgrace.

We had the Sunderland grandad and grandson going to all the play-offs raising money for charity. The grandad told the police it was the worst situation he’s ever been involved in.

Feel for everyone whose safety was put in danger or felt scared, especially the young and elderly.

My friend recorded it on his phone and we approached a copper after the game to see what they wanted to do with the footage. He essentially said the policy is to let the trouble occur and then bash their doors down and arrest them a few days later. He didn’t seem that bothered about the footage apart from a vague reference to the Met’s website.

Exactly this, @lloyd2084. The football was the football: two closely matched teams, they had 2 chances to our 2/3 and took one of theirs. I’m absolutely old enough to accept that.

But the scenes at the end, both the actions of the Charlton supporters and the passivity of the stewards and police, were a disgrace. There were players we will never see in a Wanderers’ shirt again, who I would have loved to have thanked for their efforts in the play-offs and over the season, but no - the ā€œgood naturedā€ pitch invasion (BBC) denied us that opportunity. Well done to the players who braved the hostile crowd to get to us. But thanks to all of them for a great season.

Woke up this morning so disappointed. I really thought we were going to win yesterday.

I don’t have the energy to continue to re-litigate the last six months, but I worry about where we go from here.

I’m not worried. I expect us to spend big this summer and completely overhaul the squad. If things aren’t going well come Christmas, then we think about a change in the dugout, but Dodds deserves a full pre-season.

Well, there is one worry: returning to the old training ground that caused so many problems, but it sounds like we’ve been royally messed around at Harlington.

Because that was a massive success in January wasn’t it?

Or it sounds like someone out of their depth failed somewhat with the due diligence.

My mate next to me took a video. They’d already been a barrage of missiles and flares before he got his camera out.

Admin, I can’t see to post a jpeg? Is there another way to show it? I don’t do social media.

That was a real turning point. Other clubs woke up to the fact that we always started games full speed ahead and they took measures (most notably the parking of the bus) to counteract our approach.

There was definitely a dip in form after that which justifiably raised doubts following Matt Bloomfield’s untimely departure as to whether we would have continued in second place until the end of the season had he stuck it out.

What appears to have been a horribly undermining attitude towards him must have left him feeling totally dispirited and might understandably have sown doubts even in his own mind about his ability to keep us on track.

It’s difficult not to have a degree of sympathy with MIke Dodds, bearing in mind the weird and wonderful (not) January recruitment activity a few weeks ahead of his appointment and the expectations raised by his predecessor and, not least, by the relative success of interim Head Coach Sam Grace and his team.

I believe Dan Rice was described as ā€˜interim’ Chairman about a year ago but that seems to have been a misnomer.

A double misnomer.

I can recommend going and having a look at Marlow Road Training Ground. It’s barely recognisable from a year ago. Massive pitch and building works going on at the moment.

For all those slagging off Franco and going OTT (yes he was at fault for the goal), I’d remind them that he played a great role in the first part of the season and Norris has gifted at least 2 goals to the opposition (chucked it in the net against Brum and fell over against Charlton). So I think some balance is needed!

I’m feeling ashamed.

Because I was very unwell yesterday with the ticker and spent most of the day in bed, I was blissfully unaware of the trouble caused by last night’s pitch invasion.

I wrote what felt like a valedictory message half an hour ago about my end of term feelings only to discover a whole bunch of posts earlier today about the chaotic scenes at the Valley. So my post felt inappropriate, as if I’d glossed over what must have been a frustrating and frightening situation.

I’m very sorry.

Yeah exactly. I hope for Rav’s sake that he leaves - he’s too good to be a bench warmer to Norris next season.

I’m terrified of both goalkeepers. Worth noting that Rav’s kicking was superb yesterday. A real shame he’s still superglued to his goal line. Bring back Stryjek if we aren’t going to play out the back any more.

I’m conflicted who I want to win the final now. On the one hand Charlton going up would rid us of one of the strongest, best supported clubs in the division*. On the other, while I’d always had a soft spot for them, the behaviour of a section of their fans (on the pitch and online) has soured that feeling a bit. Plus Nathan Jones’ ridiculous, performative praying on the sidelines last night reminded me what a dick he is. Also, having played 6 games this season, Danny Hltn would get a medal if they go up.

    • not that I think we’ll be competing at the top next season anyway, unless something drastic happens.
