Match Day Thread: Fulham 28th Oct 2025 (EFL Cup)

Proud of them Chairboys. Got the bar staff and some sitting in the bar by me all rooting for us.

Free hit on Saturday for Duff to play his margin players and then we crack on with the league.

Disappointed but also really proud the performance.

but I thought penalty shootouts were the great leveller

Outstanding effort all round. Agree that Henderson and Anders looked particularly good, lovely pen from the latter as well. Devastating way to lose in the end.

Bassey is a top Prem defender so hard to be too harsh on Fred. His penalty was telegraphed though. Always a lottery.

Watching from Melbourne on my way to work so a bit conflicted about the loss. Of course, would love for us have got through and am gutted with the result but sneakily relieved I won’t potentially miss a massive away day! Hopefully this can bring some momentum into the league. No questions can be made of the grit of this squad tonight.

Brilliant stuff. Shame for Fred in the shootout - had a feeling he’d miss - he was easily our best player. Not sure what that plum slagging him off was watching.

Only negative point some knob lobbing a bottle at Diop after the winning pen

ah yeah fair point I’ll mentally delete the enjoyment I gained from watching some of Wycombe’s passing patterns in Aug-Sep and simply rely on scorelines from now on. Good really, because wikipedia donations are cheaper than match tickets. Cheers!

nah he was the main threat that Fulham identified, so much so that they even switched it at half-time

I was with Charlie Goff for Wycombe Sound this evening. We’ve got another great up-and-coming commentator there. Charlie’s a great lad and learning all the time

Thoroughly impressed tonight. So much more streetwise. Some quality in the final third. First time for 6+ months I think every single starter can walk off and be pleased with their performance. One of our best performances since the winter this year.

Henderson a class above again. Something about him is starting to remind me of Jesus, I think it’s the calmness on the ball. More to come I think.

Tonight we saw that Hagelskjaer has undoubted quality. We might be needing him too now as Taylor Allen’s injury didnt look great.

I wasn’t sure about Mullins being given the nod tonight but he was excellent - he has real potential.

There was a definite short period on the gasroom that had this sort of sentiment about lovely passing.

But it quickly faded and the enjoyment as you mentioned that word massively dropped off a cliff for me and it will go down as a pretty clueless era

Really good display tonight from a superb early goal to pretty much shutting them out bar one set piece.

Such a shame to get it to the leveller of a shootout, have that massive high of saving their 5th pen then still lose.

I can’t imagine anyone really thought Fred would score his pen. Attacking players not putting themselves in the initial 5 never feels great.

I think they thought the keeper was off his line for MacNeilly’s pen…but none of the officials bought it.

I just liked it. May not have worked as an album but some of the singles were great

Some excellent performances tonight. Holding off a second half Premier League barrage and still creating some chances ourselves deserves the highest praise. I’m warming to Norris, Anders was good but Henderson and Mullins really showed their quality as well.

Loan is from Forest…I believe…but they signed him from Chelsea.

Or something.

A brutal way to lose, but it was one of those nights that made me fall back in love with this club all over again.

Atmosphere was vintage AP. The team spirit was gritty Wycombe at its best. I warmed to players I’d previously struggled to connect to.

Tactically we looked so robust and organised - not just by the standard of this season but any era.

We should have nicked that and had a famous night - we didn’t but it doesn’t detract from the performance. There’s very few criticisms you can lay on the squad tonight. Every pen was on target.

Superb atmosphere all around the ground tonight. Last ditch tackles, all action defending, goal line clearances and a huge amount of heart all over the pitch. Mike Duff really is the man ladies and gents. We’ve got our Wycombe back.

Proud of everyone at the club tonight asides from the one moron caught throwing a bottle on the pitch at the linesman’s head. I imagine they’ll have a banning order in the post within the week.
