A really hard watch today with very little quality on show, except of course for Fred, who led the line absolutely magnificently. Fred has really stepped up since Duff has come in and is currently our best player by some distance, and our only real goal threat.
We are still really lacking quality at the base in midfield (Morley, sigh) and to be honest will have to continue to play more direct to overcome that lack of quality. Fred up top in a two does suit that though as he is a constant threat. I like Woodrow as a link up player in general, but thought he was poor today. I think Fink deserves a start next week as again he was getting into good positions in between the posts when weāre attacking.
I only listened on 3CR but it sounded like Finky was putting himself about when he came on. Duff seems to be invested in Project Fink and Project C.Taylor and their recent cameos suggest green shoots are emerging.

Did anyone see Dan Harvie at the beginning of the second half. Outside the box and you knew what he was thinking and he wanted to smash the crap (word of the day) out of it into the goal. The ball then awkwardly bounced and I was thinking, change your mind Dan, lay it off. But no, he smashed the crap out of it anyway into our fans. LOL.
What an excellent away win. I just hope we can hold onto Fred in this transfer window.
Duff is a master. To be able to get a tune out of the team when we are light in a number of areas is testament to him and his staff.
Iām hoping Fred just wants to play football and be happy, as Iām expecting some bids for him over this window.
Scrappy game but what we did off the ball was impressive at times both in defence and going forwards. Sometimes you see a bit more at the game than on the box and I thought Woodrow was excellent today linking play up and closing down.
I donāt mind the longballs mixed in with intricate play as it gets the oppo guessing. When you have some one like Fred itās a no brainer as well. His first being perfect evidence of what he can do in a foot race, one on one.
I think if Fink gets a run, we need to treat him a bit like Bayo, in that the other 9 players will need to do quite a bit of his defensive work out of possession. Thereās something about him and hopefully he will click at some point.
Massive game next week, hopefully a big crowd and a big win.
Yeah I agree about Woodrow. He does shirk some aerial challenges, but hes a great presence and link in the final third.
Great result today. Weird kind of game. We could have won 5-0 or lost it too. Certainly not an amazing performance but a good win and a fabulous performance by Fred.
I canāt decide whether Woodrow enhances with his play off the ball or weakens us by his lack of involvement in major moments. Fink again seemingly did more. Itās a subject I struggle to answer.

That we are grinding out wins with the players we have is to be admired even if its not a joy to watch for the purists and still brings no pleasure to the endlessly negative. If MD2 can get Fink going as well that would be grand. I donāt think we will be relegated so letās look up and aim to be the promoted team everyone says āHow the **** did that happenā¦?ā
