Match Day Thread: Northampton Town, 20th Sept 2025

I’d got used to that level of emotion only being expressed when someone threatened to make a forward pass or take a shot.

We’re back!!!

Very positive. I can’t recall them stringing three passes together in our half. Competent half. Well managed. Much more street smart. We need the clichéd important second goal. Let’s hope we don’t sink too deep into this 5-3-2 shape that we finished the half with. About bloody time our wing backs spent most of their game in the opposition half.

Solid. A lot of grit shown, and the first time weve seen tackles this season. Leahy and Grimmer have been excellent. Real calm marshals. Mullins looks a bit too lightweight but very sharp running behind.

Wing back is Fred’s best place. He cant afford to switch off, and its showing his best qualities.

Handbrake well and truly off.

We’re getting the ball forward so much quicker and it’s so much better to watch.

And as someone who doesn’t particularly rate Luke Leahy, I have to admit he’s having a really good game out there today.

How refreshing was that first 45!! No aimless faffing about at the back, pressure being put on up the field, going long when needed, playing through the midfield when needed, shooting and most importantly we’ve scored.

Long may this continue. The midfield 3 have been excellent, Fred has been fantastic, Bell and Woodrow look brilliant again. Grimmer, Taylor, Allan and Harvie all playing with an urgency is so refreshing to see.

Bloomfield sounds very down and defeated.

Certainly can see thechange in style. Quicker and looking to get forward and try and score.

Spent the first half locked out of an Airbnb in Sandgate due to the host being a no show.

Long story but just managed to get in, and jet myself across the channel to Vipienne in time for the second half
