Did you mean chump?
We don’t actually know that Mike Dodds has a family, do we? I thought his life outside of football was a complete mystery.
We know nothing.
I agree!
I feel like he’s now uncomfortably close. Too close.
His close “Proximity” won’t be down to us getting promoted,….more whether he and MB fail to keep Oxford up!![]()
I’m still struggling to understand why Bloomfield has chosen Dodds as his assistant. The man is clueless. Has Bloomfield blamed Richard Thomas for the relegation at Luton or have Oxford hierarchy insisted on Dodds. Can only see relegation on the horizon. Is the Championship a bit too high a level for Bloomfield. Only time will tell.
Will Blooms allow the idiot Dodds to spend the whole of every game with his face looking at a screen rather than giving encouragement to the players.
It’s like someone on the Titanic passing on the life preservers and grabbing the anchor before jumping overboard.
Surprised he hasn’t also gone for Sam Grace to get the full set of ex Wycombe Managers. Could also add Gareth as Director of Football.
Maybe Bobby C will buy them and merge them with the ding.
Could call them Thames Valley Royals
…why didn’t anyone think of this before…..oh wait..
He does
Too much information.
Oxford’s thing for a little while, aside from the Rowett hire which was very much a hail mary, has been to buy young, improve and sell on.
Now, we can have a go at Mike Dodds actual ability to manage a squad, articulate tactics effectively, and mix things up in game. However, his experience has shown he does have a skill in improving youth and making clubs hefty profit in doing so. It’s a smart signing by the PNL.
Surely, the appointment of a man you don’t rate by a man you don’t rate for a club you don’t like should make you happy.
His cluelessness seems to be strangely upsetting for you.
The lack of Richy Thommo from proceedings is interesting, but there’s definitely no need to continually slate Doddsy.
He gave it his best here, wasn’t good enough and isn’t here anymore. It happens.
For some reason this triggered me into remembering the Gregory - Hill combo, and wondering why Gregory didn’t take Hill to Villa. I suspected he didn’t think he was up to such a big club, but then he re-united with him at QPR a few years later, so maybe other reasons at play. Like Hill wanting to be a manager in his own right first - think I remember him leaving here in a huff because we went with legendary ex players as an interim instead of appointing him?
But it was a long time ago…if anyone can confirm / fill in blanks
(apologies, this didn’t all need to be a response to you Wendo
)
If you remember, Gregory had been at Villa previously and whoever was in charge there (still Doug Ellis) thought that his departure had adversely impacted the team. So when Little went, my recollection was that they simply added Gregory back to the rest of their coaching staff.
Hill always came across as a truculent type, too, didn’t he?
Yes. Look at how much he improved Richard Kone.
