I looked it up and Gregory was Brian Little’s assistant.
So you’d have thought having now become the manager, Little’s job, there’d have been a role for Hill?
But probably more down to your second line.

@our_frank @Malone He comes across quite badly in the previous years end of season video if memory serves. Complaining about taking the team to a friendly in Halesowen (?) and getting thrashed.
How would you rank it versus that end of season video where Smith looked absolutely wrecked, like he’d been out on a 7 day bender?
An absolutely shocking display when we were so used to MON’s absolutely magnificient story telling, charm and demeanour.
I was once an observer of Richard Hill’s arrogance towards a Wycombe fan in the clubhouse at Wilks Park.
No one was more pleased than myself when he threw his toys of the pram, when the then WWFC board didn’t even consider him for the vacancy, when Gregory departed.
In the summer we should crank out a “dealings with ex players / staff” thread. Dare say there would be some good stories.
And some crap ones.
Like me as a young teen sat with my mum in the main stand.
Gregory was on the pitch just in front, tried to slot the ball between an empty “goal”, well, 2 cones….missed and screamed
F@K OFF.
That was a weird one.
I’ll give you the system didn’t help Kone at all, but he had also come back from an injury and was the subject of a transfer saga, which can’t have helped either.
This tweet from a Charlton fan made me giggle. Look’s like Charlton are playing a bit of Dodds ball at the moment…
Firstly I’d like to state all the Doddsy bashing is a bit out of order, he’s a lovely lad, did his best, coached at a decent level etc.
But then on the other hand, how on earth did Bloomsy end up appointing the fella who made an absolute hash of the sensational position he left our squad in?
Was it imposed on him? Or for some reason does he think the “style” of play we had in league 1 will work brilliantly at the basement of the champioli? It’s genuinely bewilderating.
And just how do they face that huge elephant in the room every day of how Doddsy unravelled everything Bloomy had working on the pitch?
They can’t just say “Ricin bodged it up” (too harsh to nickname Rice as a poison?)
Because he struggled at being head coach but he’s always succeeded at being a coach
He is a good coach and good luck to the chap.
I will quote myself. I have nothing against the fella. But he had some issues as head coach and we did seem to go backwards more than forwards (or at least sideways) when he was our head coach!!
He was well out of his depth and should never have been appointed that was down to Rice,he kept playing a lone striker who had no help as we saw with Kone who scored goals for fun under Blooms but rarely scored under Dodds.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend
If you think it’s out of order, don’t then then go and do it
Typically dreadful post
The game plan seemed to be to keep it tight until about 60 and hope to nick a set piece goal.
Still upsetting we were still in 2nd place as late as 43 games into the season. And thus how few extra points we’d have needed to have gone up.
My eyes, they burn!
God those last three league games presented such lows. After such a fantastic season too.
Having to play Charlton, Leyton Orient and Stockport in those last three league games was a tough ask.
They were all joint second in the form table at the 43 game mark with 13 points from the previous 6 games. We also had 13 points from 6 but with an inferior goal difference.
The rest as they say is history.
Christ, Oxford have just put out a 10 min interview with Mike Dodds. I reckon he was doing the “uummmmm” followed by a lip suck or deep breath for at least 2 mins of that interview. How I am so grateful that we now have Duff who knows exactly what he’s doing and saying
Immediate laughs from “yeah it’s a really good question” - it’s not a good question and that comment immediately undermines his supposed authority. God that guy was a dreadful leader and manager. I’m so glad he’s gone.
