I think this forum has gone very quiet because there hasn’t been any rumours to report. Twitter and media made no noises before the last 2 signings were announced. I wonder if it’ll stay like that OR if the Rumour Mill will burst back into life once players’ contracts have expired and everyone is looking for work?

Paudie O’Connor to Reading according to social media.

Seems like we’re losing out by being unwilling to offer 3-4yr deals

Clubs are offering 4 year deals? In league one? That seems crazy.

Offering a 4yr contract at League 1 is a big risk. At this level, a major injury could be just around the corner and sometimes, players are never the same when they return. It seems in the modern day that players get extensions when they have been written into the contract as targets (games or goals) or if the club have an option to extend the deal by 1 or 2 yrs without having to re-negotiate the deal.
Yes, I understand the players want / need security and I completely understand that but those players have rolled the dice on getting a better deal somewhere else when their previous club may have given them the security.

a facebook post i’ve just read says that kone has turned down a move to saudi arabia.

quiet day

Not sure if you were trying to poke fun at the Facebook page, but that news seems legitimate from a Sky Sports reporter.

I find it a stretch that Saudi team(s) were interested in Kone… I’m guessing from his background, it’ll be a very unlikely move for him but more crazy things have happened in Football

If Kone is legally a refugee (successful asylum seeker waiting for five year period before he can apply for permanent leave to remain and longer period before he can claim citizenship), my understanding is he would have to reapply for asylum in Belgium or France if he wanted to move there. Of course that may not be his status.

The number of Premier and Championship clubs interested may of course by one or even none! There is a big difference between interest and actually making an offer.

See how this pans pout, but I would have thought in his best interest, after his poor end to last season, to stay and prove his worth at least between now and January before moving on. Could very easily get lost in a bigger clubs “development” squads if not very careful.

Just come across this article too - presumably would take a huge offer for him to even consider signing a new contract, and if he doesn’t would be surprised if he’s still with us in August.

Kone obviously wants out, and has his agent on the case, leaking stories. Similar to Bloomfield and Low.

If ww can get a good fee, im fine with it.
