Yea I did think it was a bit strange to talk about it but I think they still believe they need to sell in the head coach model to most fans. Providing continuity is clearly one of the positives of this model.
Based on what they said I think we’ll see a fair few players leave this week too.
I found it odd as it’s not unusual. All the most successful smaller clubs have this kind of setup, like Brentford and Brighton.
I’m not sure why they think it’s something we all need explaining like we’re three year olds. We get it. It’s common place. Tell us something interesting.
Most of us couldn’t care less if he was called “King of the Trolls” as long as we occasionally see some attacking football and attempts to score goals.
Apologies if I caused any offence. Wasn’t my intention - was trying to find a better turn of phrase than calling people that need this explanation, 3 year olds.
Happy Tuesday everyone. Make of this what you will; but this is coming from the Barnsley side. Looks like personal terms are set; Wycombe need to stump up the cash. Looks like Luca wants to wear those Quarters…
Not sure an account of 61 followers is reliable. You don’t agree personal terms before a bid is accepted, that is tapping up. However I believe there is still discussions/games between the two clubs.
True, although I’ve seen an account with 40k followers has predicted Wycombe to win the league this year. So followers is by no means a deciding factor!
What I don’t get with this specific example, but there are others like this, is how it’s beneficial to anyone for the club and player to have agreed terms BEFORE it’s been agreed between clubs that a transfer can happen.
I was always under the impression, and with zero experience at actually organising a player transfer, both clubs would have to agree a transfer before a club can talk to, and agree terms with, another clubs player. Couldn’t a club be accused of tapping up a player with it going this way around?
All that this does is sow discontent between a player and his club. Either the club will be annoyed one of their players wants to leave or a player that wants to leave will be annoyed if the bid for him isn’t accepted.
That’s why I’m still sceptical about this particular rumour.
Yeah, I agree with you and @Midlander that it’s a bit suspect. But we’ve been so starved of rumours I thought I’d post it (as it came from the Barnsley side rather than the Wycombe side).
Clearly lots of games going on between the two clubs, possible stirred up by Agents; the amount of money now in League 1, Agents must be licking their lips with the fees.
I was a bit surprised to see Forest moaning about Spurs tapping a player up the other day, surely everyone is at it. Agents this time of year will be actively working on all kinds of deals and possibilities, and what would be the point of spending months negotiating with Barnsley on the amount and make up of a fee only to find out later that the player wasn’t interested or wanted so much money that it couldn’t happen anyway.
If we start the season with Udoh as the only fit striker, that does make me worried. While the workrate is there, he’s never torn up trees with his goal return and we’ll need to strengthen the leading line before the season starts
I guess if Kone is missing from the team tonight, we’ll know why
Armando Iannucci once said that any vegetable plus a tin of tomatoes makes an acceptable pasta sauce. Likewise any topflight football team plus a number in the low millions makes a Kone transfer rumour.
