Sorry you feel this way - I personally think it is just the result of people being disappointed by a season that ended poorly. We haven’t had to do much moderation at all, and I’m not sure in hindsight we could have done much differently.
I know a journalist in one of the fleet street
papers doesn’t matter what level you are there is pressure on advertising figures so yes click bait is encouraged, even the top journalists copy each other. James is a decent bloke don’t be so hard on him.
I promise my feelings are nothing to do with your running of the gasroom… i think im just feeling a bit touchy today
This place like is the Teddy Bear’s Picnic compared to some forums I’ve been on. Thank goodness.
I went on the teddy bear’s picnic forum and tjere was some vicious disagreements about the relative merits of jam and honey
What missing is that we have lost the rich tradition of @Shev s post-season distractions.
Usually at this time of year we are busy giving serious consideration as to whether Barnsley’s club crest is better than Northamptons or whether the toilets at Hillsborough are better than those at Home Park.
Im missing the usual contributions from @Shev and other normalitys from long standing fellows
It was a big surprise discovering just how toxic the forum could be. I was banned after a few hours for using a sockpuppet account.
Ha! Was just about to say this. The forum is a shitshow for anyone coming in looking for info when every other post is someone making a childish retort.
There aren’t many posts on here but what there is, is embarrassing.
People just need to take a moment before posting about each other and about others who aren’t here.
Ok, I’m not even going to bite at that.
In a day and age where social media is the “go to”, writing articles in the newspaper has become even harder to grab attention. He is a young lad trying to make his way in the media world, and we are his audience. Assuming he is a Wycombe fan, lets support him.
As it happens, It appears that he has got your attention, so he is doing a very good job.
Furthermore, if you don’t like it, don’t read it.
100% agreed , people need to grow up, he is trying to make a living and seems a nice guy , but the grammer police hiding behind keyboards are pathetic
Blackpool Signed Horsfall from.Stickport …that is a very good signing
Unfortunately it is not up to us. It is his employers’ job to correct his mistakes. Problem is, they likely know nothing. He’s a young lad. Support him. We were all there once.
More irony.
Man who constantly slags player off who got his first professional contract in 2012, asking people hiding behind a keyboard to give journalist who got his first role at a newspaper in 2014 a break because he is trying to make a living.
Look, I’m sure James is a lovely chap and he is trying his hardest. I just don’t think the standard has been great for any of the 6 years he’s apparently been at the BFP. Maybe he needs to find an employer that’s going to give him a mentor to work under or at least some guidance by a competent editor so he can improve.
If you’re more happy with the standard of our local paper. More power to you. I think it’s bad, getting worse and there seems to be minimal effort across the board and no one cares.
And that’s before (and would be offf topic) I even start of the “news reports”where they have just blatantly copied comments and stories out of Local group chats on Facebook.
It’s a systemic rather than individual issue - the problem is the lack of quality local newspapers rather than the people who work for them.
I’m only 4’ 10” so I do struggle to stack the higher shelves.
“if you don’t like it, don’t read it” - that’s not a great model for a paper relying on readers/views for financial reward and funding, is it?
He does have my attention. You’re right. And I aim to avoid anything written by him. That’s doesn’t sit great within that model.
People not liking it, so they don’t want to read it is precisely the problem for local newspapers.
I still remember the articles written in the Wycombe Star describing Mickey Bells runs down the wing and the crosses into the box. It’s was evocative and exciting to read. Content > than the journo being a nice guy trying his best. But I guess I’m the monster.
Blackpool just signed former SW CB on a 3 year contract, they are pushing hard this season
(Joking Obv!)

Or am I…?
I agree. I m lurking rather than posting at the moment (well, not at this precise moment, obviously). The last few months the forum, in both it’s second and third iterations, has had more traffic of worse quality than previously. I am not enjoying it as much as I used to.
Maybe if we’re playing more exciting foootball next season the issue will correct itself. But there’s no real reason why it couldn’t correct itself now just by people trying not to be dicks.
