Summer 2026 transfer window

Don’t you just love the negativity even before the season starts. Not. Transfer window is not closed and in his last interview Duff indicated we were still looking to recruit. It’s far more healthy to be positive than continuously negative as some of our posters.

Gaz and the Couhigs thrived off of the “dregs left on Deadline day”

You mean dregs like Sam Bell and Cauley Woodrow who came on the last day last season

Genuine question: of the decent goalscorers we’ve had since coming into the league, which of them came here as ‘proven goalscorers’, in particular at our level.

Beavon scored plenty for Didcot and Kone of course in the Essex League. Devine had done well at Barnet, but perhaps only Bayo, after an already long career, was proven at or above our level. Similarly Garner and Regis, perhaps, at the end of their careers.

Jermaine Easter.

Times is hard.

McGleish for sure; think Easter was in the ‘young and promising’ category when we signed him.

It’s not negativity, it’s objectivity. I am considerably more pessimistic than most on here, though I believe that’s more because so many others are blind optimists with no basis in fact. The League 1 thread is full of people who think our squad are world beaters and haven’t considered that other teams might be strong too.

Easter had scored a load of goals for Stockport hadn’t he? I remember it feeling like a really big deal when we got him.

11 in 23 games in all competitions. Very decent but he wasn’t an established league goalscorer at the time.

It definitely felt a strong signing, followed by a really slow start, incredible season peaking with those goals in the league cup run, then..disappointing fall out at the end if remembering correctly.

Similar to Beavon in a way!

It took him forever to score didn’t it? He might only have got one or two that first half season.

And then he refused to play for us to get a move? Or that was the story.

I think all of the above. Really disappointing finish but possibly in keeping with how we got him in the first place, so we couldn’t moan too much!

Or those in the middle. Who think your suggestion that we will finish lower mid table is a load of baloney. And also think a promotion race is off the cards. I suspect this is the majority of us and you are as much an outlier as those you protest against.

I’m not protesting.

Two strikers with a decent record at L1 level or higher would make us a very competitive squad this season. I’m fairly sure we’ll get them.

Optimistic as always,

Plymouth signed Tolaj for 1.2m from Vale he had spent most of his career in league 2 or below. Now 4m to Championship

Just need to find the player, but experience at league 1 shouldn’t be a priority

I’d quite like us to sign decent League 2/National League strikers/forwards.

It was a policy last summer that made sense but Tilley, Allen and Quitirna (so far) haven’t come off. Doesn’t mean to say it was a bad policy.
