That was a hard watch.
I had Duff flashbacks when we went all out defence, but we saw it through.
Great performance from all. But, Bellingham and Gordon stood out.
Maybe we play big Dan Burn to handle Haaland?
Dan Burn is great if you want somebody to stand in the middle and head away crosses, but I’m not sure I’d want to see him up against Haaland
Surely Starmer’s last act should be a call to Infante about that Red Card!

Disagree, I really rate Dan Burn, and he could handle Haaland without a doubt. He was great for that last 25 minutes yesterday.

This World Cup was turning out to be quite good until the shameless corruption of Fifa was put on display in country where grift is seen as the acceptable norm. What was Infantino offered in the call from the leader of the American kleptocracy I wonder? Cash, crypto, girls, boys, the deletion of video files?
I feel sorry for the US players in a way. Any progress they now make is tainted.

On the run up to the Mexico game and off the back of the DR Congo win, I saw lots of comments from several sources asking what England would do without Harry Kane.
And I kinda of agree with them except for two words:
Jude Bellingham.
I think it’s easy to forget he has just turned 23 and to perform in the way he has so far in this World Cup is nothing short of exceptional and he is only going to get better.
We are as lucky to have him in the squad as Argentina have Messi. Portugal CR7. France Mbappe.
Remember the talk of how do you play Gerrard Scholes and Lampard together?

Bellingham is outrageously gifted, the Brummie-Messi. Without Kane we are obviously diminished as are France without Mbappe, both teams are far from one-man teams though.

Last Euros Bellingham was widely criticised for arrogance/selfishness/not being a team player, but all I’ve seen of him this WC is the consummate professional - and a supremely talented one at that. I’m still dreaming of an Eze winner in the final, though.
