I’d already been outed as Wycombe by the time Essy scored. A mate watching the game on the screen at AP rang me at HT and I stupidly answered “alright geezer” and the bloke next to me (we were about ten rows back behind the goal) stood up and pointing at me and my mate shouted “These two are Wycombe!”. Needless to say we felt discretion was the better part of valour when he scored…they did however chase me and my mate out of the ground! Happy days ![]()
One of my greatest memories of that day was the Leicester fans congratulating me and shaking my hand as we left the ground despite having lost. Bore no comparison to my dad and myself being chased back to our car by Liverpool “fans” after we lost the semi final.
Indeed, my memories of Leicester fans that day are 100% positive, generously congratulating us, even as we sat in traffic after the game wearing Wycombe colours.
Amazing day !!!
Leicester end for me as well. Well, not the end, was down the side of the pitch with their fans quite close to where our fans housed down the side of the pitch.
A lot of disgruntled locals around me as I kept in the celebrations buried deep inside as the team came running towards me/our fans celebrating Roy’s goal.
Friend was at Uni in Leicester so was easier to get tickets in the “wrong” end
McCoist banging on about a tug on the jersey when we can all see him stand on his foot. Why is nobody telling him in his earpiece?
“Pre-VAR, we’d be celebrating one of the all-time great World Cup goals and moments”. And there you have it. DevC will think it was the correct decision. I think the spirit of football has just suffered yet another cut of one thousand cuts that could eventually lead to its death.
Although have some of that instead
Has anyone seen Messi? Your boys are taking one hell or a beating!
Its been a good world cup.
It was the correct bit also a god awful decision. Makes a mockery of having a ref.
Let’s not be too hasty. Belgium vs Senegal was all
Done at 2-0 as well at one point.
This still could be the greatest result in African football.
They had 6 opportunities to put a challenge in between the foul and the goal. Even if it’s technically the right decision, it’s absolute crap.
Genius.
Bugger.
Bugger indeed. But you’ve got to say, one hell of a game
“What a game we are watching, what a game”
If you haven’t got anything sensible to say Ally - keep your gob shut
It is. bloody love football.
But if I am Norway or England, Colombia and Switzerland - I would not be scared of facing Argentina. These are very beatable.
The man is a buffoon.
