Wycombe Retained List 2025

It may have been because of the tactics but for me he flattered to deceive quite a lot. He was pushed forward in the playoffs, which I thought was a mistake as his passing and shooting around the box is very meh and his discipline is all over the place, but perhaps if he’s moved further back he’d be a useful addition.

I’d not be unhappy if we completely overlooked him, but he could be a useful squad player as long as a dirgeball specialist was signed as well.

I don’t think he is. Think the agreement was if we got promoted. I might be wrong though.

I think Simons was bitterly disappointing. Some flashes but overall didn’t deliver on his promise in the few months he was here.

I was at the LO game and thought it was unusual for the Wyc fans to have a sweary go, but I did think most of it was directed at Dudds who stood behind the players whilst it was being handed out. Maybe if he fronted up and led his team rather than hide behind them, there would have been a more muted response. TBF our fans very rarely hand out abuse to home players and far less than many other home teams. EG. Sunderland fans.

You could even argue further that his lack of composure at key moments (Birmingham red, rebound shot at Charlton) cost us promotion. I know that’s somewhat harsh but good players make key contributions when it matters.

you could argue that, if you lacked any reasonable perspective.

Also clean through also against one of the play-off rivals (I think Stockport) when we were still in the game. Admittedly it was on his weaker foot so not a clear cut opening, but it was a pathetic effort easily saved all the same.

Definitely madness we played Humphries deeper to allow him to play further forward which highlighted both players’ weaknesses and undermined their strengths. But that’s the genius that gets you the top job at WWFC, I suppose.

The amount and duration of negative comment directed at MD at the end of this fixture has been exaggerated.

I too was there and by the time I’d realised they weren’t booing the players - which I was shocked to think - but MD who was standing behind them, it had stopped.

Barely lasted 5 seconds, which given the disappointment and frustration many felt was probably justified.

They were still booing him when we came on stage.

Also it appears as if players are saying goodbyes to Simons on social media too.

You could, but you’d sound pretty stupid

Got it on fairly good authority that the club would absolutely love to sign Simons permanently, but an initial deal was dependent on what league we were in. Wouldn’t rule it out, but not a given anymore.

Would be a decent squad player and one for the future. Good signing if a deal can be done, he’s not good enough for the Championship (yet). New manager at Hull though so they might want to keep him.

I actually thought Humphreys deeper worked quite well that game. Simons had his (arguably) best game for us that day in a more box to box role.
It went wrong when we missed the penalty - took the wind out of our sails and handed Stockport the momentum.

Kone’s Instagram story shares a parting tribute to Jack Young suggesting he was “one of the best midfielders I have ever trained with”.

I wonder why it didn’t work out for him. He seemed to come with good praise when he joined.

Remember when Sanchez fronted up to the booing fans? That didn’t have a good outcome.

Ah, Saltergate. Also HenpeckedGate. So many gates.

Lawrie Sanchez must have thought he was in Baghdad etc etc

Just the sort of young player that MD might have drawn the best out of.
