Hey @DevC I merged your post into here.
Incredibly saw news indeed. RIP.

Incredibly saw news indeed. RIP.
Ah thank you.
Just unbearably sad. Her poor family, and her poor team mates, opponents, coaches etc who will have witnessed it all
Just so sad
The remaining fixtures in the league have been published and we were waiting to see when our final game would be, away to Portchester, who still have 10 games to play. Six of theirs were unscheduled but we have been given the first of those, on 19 April. Their last four games are away but they will probably be happy, not being asked to play midweek to shorten the season. Instead they will have fresh players for each game and some of the teams they play will have less and less interest as the season goes on into May.
Here are the fixtures of the five teams in contention for the title, ordered by maximum points possible.
AFC Portchester - max points 53, goal diff 24
Wycombe Wanderers - max points 51, goal diff 52
Winchester City Flyers - max points 49, goal diff 20
Southampton Women - max points 44, goal diff 18
Reading - max points 44, goal diff 8
We need to make up two points on Portchester, so we aim to take the majority of the points in the two fixtures against them. A win on Sunday would put the pressure on them, and we then have two games against the bottom two sides.
The Flyers are very much in the race, having only dropped two fewer points than us. Reading and Southampton probably have too many points to make up, the Royals 1-0 defeat at Sholing on Sunday was a real shock. These five sides all have games against each other, there is a lot to play for. I think the experience in our squad, compared to the other teams, will be important. What we don’t want is to finish the season and have to wait on Portchester’s last five games.
Both youth teams are in action tomorrow.
The U16s travel to New Level Soccer in the league, who lead the table with 11 wins and one draw from their 12 games. In the reverse fixture in November, the Chairgirls lost 2-0. Kick-off and venue unknown, they play at various places in Essex.
The U18s host Ascot United in the league who are mid-table with a 3-5-3 playing record. The Chairgirls have yet to play them in this league but they lost 4-1 at their ground on the opening day of the season, in the qualifying league group. The Chairgirls also beat them 4-2 in the B & B Invitational in September. Kick-off 10:00 at The 1878 Stadium.
A chat with Axelle and Chloe.
Today’s results and table.
How it looks for the title challengers.
AFC Portchester - max points 53, games left 9
Winchester City Flyers - max points 49, games left 6
Wycombe Wanderers - max points 48, games left 3
Reading - max points 44, games left 7
Southampton Women - max points 42, games left 5
There are still a lot of games to play, if we win our last three, we are back in it, and Flyers still have to play Portchester.
Next Sunday in the League Cup semi-final, the Firsts are away to the Flyers, with Chelsie Hay bagging seven seven goals in their 12-1 thrashing of Woodley today.
No news on the youth team games yesterday, no results posted but other games in their division have been posted.
Rob Couhig’s thoughts on Reading Women, that it’s expensive to run. The team is run by Reading Trust but funded by Reading FC, to the tune of £45k this year. It appears he is looking to reduce that cost and find funding from elsewhere.
This is interesting.
Burnham FC list four teams playing at The 1878, including Maidenhead Town and Maidenhead Rangers. I presume the Chairgirls will be playing there next season. I cannot find an announcement from the FA about this.
The U16s’ match at New Level Soccer on Saturday is now status “discipline”, which presumably means one of the teams could not fulfill the fixture. We await news.
The U18s’ result that day was posted late, a 3-2 home defeat to Ascot United. AFC Wimbledon have been awarded a 3-0 win against the U18s on 21 February. Presumably they were unable to field a team.
The Berks & Bucks U18 Invitational Cup Final, between the U18s and Milton Keynes, will be held on Wednesday 29 April at Risborough Rangers FC, kick-off 19:45.
The U18s have a very busy end of season calendar, including two Wednesday games against Oxford United, on 15 and 22 April. The latter has a kick-off time of 10:00 showing, both these dates are in term time, so we will see how that plays out.
The Combined Counties Women’s Cup Quarter-Final draw has been made, the Firsts will host Watford Development, date TBC.
AFC Portchester v Eastbourne Borough
Sutton United or Dartford vs Chatham Town
Wycombe Wanderers vs Watford Development
Fleet Town or Maidenhead vs Reading
Tomorrow in the league, the U16s travel to Luton U16s who sit three points above the Chairgirls. This is their first meeting this season. Kick-off and venue unknown.
Also tomorrow, the U18s host Plymouth Argyle U18s in the league. In the reverse fixture in December, Argyle won 3-2. They sit second in the table but have played more games than the others, many more than some. Kick-off is listed as 12pm at the 1878, to allow their opponents time for the long journey. I note that Maidenhead Town kick-off at 2pm at the 1878 tomorrow, in the Thames Valley Counties Premier, so I hope that all works out!
On Sunday the Firsts resume their league cup run when they visit Winchester City Flyers in the semi-final.
FT Luton Town 1-6 U16s
FT U18s 5-1 Plymouth Argyle
New Level Soccer have been awarded a 3-0 win against the U16s last Saturday.
Good results from the girls
Any reason why the U16s couldnt fulfill the fixture
Today’s results and table.
Next Sunday the Firsts travel to Woodley United in the league.
The SRWFL League Cup Final against AFC Portchester will be held on Sunday 26 April at 3pm. Venue is Reading City FC, Rivermoor Stadium, Scours Lane, Tilehurst, Reading, RG30 6AY.
That is the week after our final league game, at Portchester. That means Portchester’s home league game against Woodley United that day will be rescheduled, date TBC.
Tomorrow the two youth teams play their JPL cup semi-finals, U16s in the Trophy, U18s in the higher ranked Cup.
The U16s host Worthing United, who have got to this round by beating Aldershot Town 3-0 (H), Inspire Football Academy 3-2 (A), Charlton Athletic U15 3-1 (H) and Whitstable Town 8-1 (A). Worthing have won all ten of their league matches, scoring 53 and conceding just 3 goals. That includes four “awarded” 3-0 wins, with another two currently under status “discipline”, which may be awarded. Kick-off 11:00 at The 1878, Burnham.
The U18s are at home to Millwall Academy, who have defeated AFC Greenwich Borough 8-2 (H), Fulham 4-2 (A) and Kings Hill 1-1, 5-2 pens (A). The Fulham win is a form guide, we lost 4-2 at their place in the league, and drew 3-3 at home recently. Millwall are in one of the Premier JPL divisions and have won all nine of their matches. Kick-off 09:45 at the Bucks College Group Wycombe Campus, Spring Lane, Flackwell Heath HP10 9HE.
There is time to catch either game before going to Adams Park. Note that the 3G pitch at Flackwell Heath has neither seats nor cover, and possibly no toilets if nothing has changed since the Firsts used to play there.
On Sunday the firsts travel to Woodley United in the league, more on that to come.
FT U16s 3-1 Worthing United.
Congratulations to the U16s who will meet The Albion Foundation (as in West Brom) in the Trophy Final on Saturday 9 May at Corby town FC.
Still awaiting the U18s result against Millwall, not sure what the delay is.
