Tomorrow, Saturday, the youths continue their JPL Cup action.
The U16s are away to QPR, who have lost 3-2 to Hemel Hempstead and won 8-0 at Goffs Oak. KO 10:00 at Cranford Community College, High St, Hounslow TW5 9PD.
The Goffs Oak match, which was not played, has been awarded to the U16s as a 3-0 win.
The U18s host Petts Wood, who have lost two and won one. KO 10:30 at the 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG.
Regarding the Chesham FA Cup game next weekend, it still shows as being at Burnham. If anyone attended the Trust meeting last night, let us know if switching it to AP came up.
Today, in the league, the Firsts host Sholing, who so far have had a good 5-1 win against Woodley but two narrow defeats against Oxford City and Fleet Town. Last weekend they lost on penalties in the FA Cup at the Flyers. Last season the Chairgirls beat Sholing 5-1 at Burnham in March, after a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.
Kick-off 2pm at the 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG. W3 have tweeted that it’s cash only on the gate today, normally card is accepted. Adults £6, U18 £1, U5 free.
I had a quick chat with Darcie and Ryan at AP this afternoon and asked about the Chesham fixed which they said had been moved. I also thanked them both for all their excellent work and content.
Some of the women’s squad were there for photos etc on the pitch after the men, but not all due to work commitments etc.
I did manage to say hello to Jess and wished her luck with her 30 goal target.
Tomorrow in the JPL Cup, the U16s host Hemel Hempstead who have won both of their games, 7-0 against Richmond & Kew, and 3-2 against QPR. KO 10:30 at the 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG. Entry free.
The U18s travel to AFC Wimbledon in the JPL Cup, the leaders with three wins out of three and yet to concede a goal. KO and venue unknown.
2pm kickoff. I will be there and I am hoping for a good crowd - £6 adults and £1 children - lots of parking etc - a nice trip out for the family to support the efforts being made to establish a women’s team and youth setup at the club.
I have watched several games at Burnham - first and youth teams - and there was some good football and lots of goals on view. Chesham are in the division above Wycombe Wanderers Women, W3, so it will be a challenge.
The draw for the Combined Counties Women’s Midweek Cup has been made. The Firsts will host Beaconsfield Town by 30 November. It looks to be ‘regionalised’, no awkward M25 journeys in the rush hour as Billericay have in the Isthmian Cup! I could only find this info on the personal Facebook account of a CCFL Board member.

Tomorrow the U16s complete their JPL Cup games with a trip to Richmond & Kew, who have played one match so far, a 7-0 defeat against Hemel Hempstead. Kick-off 10.30am at Clubhouse Pitch, Ham Playing Fields, Riverside Drive, Richmond TW10 7RU.
The U18s start their JPL League programme, the league website says ‘away’ to AFC Wimbledon but the venue is listed as The 1878 Stadium, 10.30 KO, so I am assuming Burnham. Nothing yet on W3 Twitter.
Today’s Southern Region Premier top game saw third placed Winchester City Flyers beat second placed Beaconsfield Town at home. A first half penalty put the Flyers ahead but the Rams pressed late on, hitting the underside of the bar before the Flyers added a second deep into added time.
With Portchy and the Hoops in a stalemate, it just may be that the Flyers turn out to be the main challengers for top spot. Woodley were unable to raise a team against Reading, a worrying situation for them.
Billericay Town, the Firsts’ opponents in the Isthmian Cup this Tuesday, lost 10-0 at Oxford United in the National Southern Premier today, 4-0 at half-time. Town have lost all seven league games this season, scoring two and conceding 48.
Bridgwater Town, the Firsts’ FA Cup opponents in two weeks time, had a 3-0 win at Ascot United in National D1SW today, all goals coming in the final 25 minutes. A result like that underlines just how good they are.
Chesham United are still looking for their first win of the season after losing 5-1 at table toppers Fulham in the National D1SE today.
A reminder that the Firsts host Billericay Town tonight, in the Isthmian Women’s Cup 2nd Round. Kick-off at the earlier time of 7:30pm, at the 1878 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG.
Billericay were beaten finalists last season in this cup, losing 5-0 at home to Chatham Town, and they are hosting this year’s competition as well. The Blues are finding life hard in tier 3 National Southern Premier, having lost all seven league games, and three Cup games as well. Last season they finished second from bottom but avoided relegation because of divisional allocations. Only a handful of players remain from last season, the new players are still adjusting to this level. Even so, I expect them to be very competitive and favourites.
The last time the Chairgirls played a tier 3 side was in 2018-19 when, as a tier 6 side, they lost 3-0 to MK at Flackwell College in the B & B semi-final. They were only one down until late into the game. I think tier 3 is stronger these days, but so are the Chairgirls. It should be an intriguing game and I will be there.
